NOTE: these headphones are massive. Weight wise they are light because the build is plastic. However, the ears stick out quite a bit and can aesthetically look a bit silly if out in public.

I know they took inspiration from the MDR-R10 but it really just looks like they carbon copied the ES Labs ES-R10 on accident or something. It's like..... cosplay fantasy cyberpunk for someone with elf ears ala Shadowrun or something. I actually love how they sound... I have a stock pair and one modded by JM Audio but...I rarely wear them because I'm fiercely aware of how stupid they look lol.

That is what I'd be concerned with.
i would always prioritize price + sound over looks

msrp is not the sale price, even if it's a perpetual sale price... that is determined by the manufacturer, not by amazon. and, as you can imagine, there is no rhyme or reason how that's determined

That's the big risk.
If you feel like taking a wee gamble, pay with American Express, as they have the most robust consumer protections out of all credit card companies.
I got scammed by a seller in China who provided fake tracking information and I never received the Viltrox lens I paid for. Ali Express didn't help at all. American Express came to the rescue with a charge-back.
Pro tip: if you want an additional layer of protection, use PayPal with American Express.
