The idea for Underworld was Blade Runner meets The Howling meets Romeo and Juliet.

The story's roots are scientific.

Director Len Wiseman's storyboards convinced both Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman to sign on.

Beckinsale described her costume as "a condom with sleeves."

Beckinsale asked for the sex and nudity to be axed from the script.

Not ruining a take by laughing was Nighy's biggest challenge.

Many of the werewolf effects were practical.

This series is good, can't believe the first came almost more than 22 years ago. During those times, not sure if today's Gen Z knows, we used to go to Blockbuster and I remember I rented this movie for just 24 hours after seeing Kate Beckinsale on poster and that leotard suit and warewolf what could go wrong and yes, expecting naked Kate, but that didn't happned, but, the movie, the special effects and overal story was really good, watched the entire series. Good collection to have.

guilty pleasure series for me. If you try watching it one after the other, the movie gets dumber and dumber. Real missed opportunity to expand the mythos by getting rid of the blue werewolf guy/not continuing the whole human vs vampire fight / more elder vampires or perhaps introducing rival beasts. I don't know. I mostly watch it for Beckinsale

I rewatched the first one the other day and it is still really good, even though it's just a retelling of Romeo and Juliet. But yeah, Kate is peak especially in that first one.
