He might want to stop even bothering looking at Staub. Black interiors are their thing.
Lodge has a similar looking blue 5.5 qt Dutch oven with cream interior. Walmart sells them for $50. Very nice quality, considering the price.
People always say this, but I have no trouble seeing let alone building fond in these. Just because it has a dark interior does not make the fond difficult to see or tell how built up it is, unless you cook in the dark I guess.

Ugh would totally be in for one if the interior was white/cream colored. I like to cook dishes that require building a fond and the black interior is just bad for that. You can't tell if its forming nicely. Still a great piece of cookware though. Wished Le Creuset's dutch ovens were at this price lol.

These are leftovers from Zwilling's Memorial Day sale. Visual Imperfection products do not include a warranty, read the fine print. The clearance price on these is excellent. I have a few Staub 5.25-qt French Ovens. They retain heat well. You can build and scrape off fond. Interiors clean up much more easier than Le Creuset since you can't see any staining, especially from recipes with red wine.

Is this really that much better than this Lodge for $50? Not trying to be a smartass, serious question.
