I am not sure how these compare to the strawberry flavor, but those were pretty awful. This is coming from someone who regularly eats protein bars and other protein-marketed snacks, so I am familiar with the flavors/textures and how they differ from their "non-protein" counterparts. I wouldn't buy the strawberry again, but I might try the chocolate one.
Just another heavily processed "food" masquerading as a healthy alternative to heavily processed "foods."
Here are the most controversial ingredients in these, from my pal CGPT:
1. Erythritol
Artificial sugar alcohol; generally safe but linked to digestive upset in some and possible cardiovascular risk at high intake (as per a 2023 Cleveland Clinic study—still debated).
2. Polydextrose
A synthetic fiber and sweetener; can cause bloating, gas, and laxative effects in some individuals.
3. Palm Oil / Palm Kernel Oil
High in saturated fat; linked to heart health concerns when overconsumed. Also raises environmental and ethical issues (deforestation, habitat loss).
4. Natural Flavors
Broad and vague category; may include chemical solvents, preservatives, or MSG derivatives. Often criticized for lack of transparency.
5. Sucralose (e.g., Splenda)
Artificial sweetener; disrupts gut microbiome and show negative insulin response in some studies.

damn I loved the strawberry. did you try putting it in the microwave for like 10-15 seconds? the texture is a little off but i thought the flavor was great. in for a box of chocolate!
I did not. I picked up from 7-11 for a snack during lunch, and struggled through it lol. I see from others that the other flavors are much better.

I got s'mores flavor and tried it this morning. Actually pretty good‽ I was shocked since blueberry was NOT it.
They taste pretty good but they're not poptarts. They're a pretty good chocolate treat if you're doing keto/low carb. They're just way too soft to be a poptart replacement.
When Target offeres a red circle deal on HBA and these are included, they offer a better price. With that said, I combined three offers at Amazon to get an 8 pack for less than $15.00, and I want to try them.... Keto style with butter melted all over the backs after 15 seconds in the microwave!!!
The cinnamon is my favorite with chocolate next in line. I wish they'd mark the chips down in price. They're the best tasting protein chips I've ever had

Target doesn't sell these. These are the protein+ variant with 22g of protein.
I'd love to enter a protein snack or powder deal discussion and not be bombarded by fear-mongering wannabe nutritionists. It's one thing to share your knowledge about the ingredients inside these products, it's another thing to act like people are only relying on these as their sole source of protein and to act like people will die if they consume the occasional protein treat.
All these nut jobs complaining about the chemicals in these products probably eat some type of junk everyday. Or they think if they buy food from chiptole they are eating healthy food with no chemicals. As far as a protein treat, these are actually pretty good macro wise compared to other protein bars. 22 grams of protein for 200 calories is pretty good. Many bars have 10-15 grams of protein per 200ish calories which isn't that good.
Imo the s'mores is pretty legit. I didn't have a problem with strawberry (but not part of deal). I did buy the cherry 🍒 on this deal. And I remember buying them full price and not being that thrilled with cherry. But I wanted to give it another shot. (I don't recall hating any flavor, but I'm also a pretty cheap date when it comes to convenient protein bars)
