I am not sure how these compare to the strawberry flavor, but those were pretty awful. This is coming from someone who regularly eats protein bars and other protein-marketed snacks, so I am familiar with the flavors/textures and how they differ from their "non-protein" counterparts. I wouldn't buy the strawberry again, but I might try the chocolate one.
Just another heavily processed "food" masquerading as a healthy alternative to heavily processed "foods."
Here are the most controversial ingredients in these, from my pal CGPT:
1. Erythritol
Artificial sugar alcohol; generally safe but linked to digestive upset in some and possible cardiovascular risk at high intake (as per a 2023 Cleveland Clinic study—still debated).
2. Polydextrose
A synthetic fiber and sweetener; can cause bloating, gas, and laxative effects in some individuals.
3. Palm Oil / Palm Kernel Oil
High in saturated fat; linked to heart health concerns when overconsumed. Also raises environmental and ethical issues (deforestation, habitat loss).
4. Natural Flavors
Broad and vague category; may include chemical solvents, preservatives, or MSG derivatives. Often criticized for lack of transparency.
5. Sucralose (e.g., Splenda)
Artificial sweetener; disrupts gut microbiome and show negative insulin response in some studies.

Yes. I know.
That's how I was able to also mark it on my comment showing the recent review ratings. I find Vine reviews less reliable, so thought I'd add the notation here also

What are you talking about?! I LOVED THE STRAWBERRY!!!
All these nut jobs complaining about the chemicals in these products probably eat some type of junk everyday. Or they think if they buy food from chiptole they are eating healthy food with no chemicals. As far as a protein treat, these are actually pretty good macro wise compared to other protein bars. 22 grams of protein for 200 calories is pretty good. Many bars have 10-15 grams of protein per 200ish calories which isn't that good.
Ignorance induced fear. The result of 50 years of war on public education. Just have to not take any kind of fact-based advice from strangers on the Internet.
Which is why I'm only here for flavor recommendations.

Really?! I struggled to finish it 🤣 It just had a bad aftertaste IMO. I'm not sensitive to artificial sugars and all that, either. I will have to give this chocolate one a try, it seems it might be a bit more popular.
Currently have the frosted cinnamon and frosted strawberry flavors ordered and set to be delivered later this month. I'm tempted to get others as I've been interested in these for a while and this is a pretty solid price. I hope I like them.

flavor and overall taste recommendations are as varied and useless as the nutrition ones.
i personally loved the strawberry as is or 5 seconds in the mic is great. they are a good amount like a pop tart, just a bit fluffier and cakier
I see some people hated em though so... caveat emptor.
I guess listing your go to protein bars and then comparing that against the people that liked or didnt like would give the best info
