People with weaker hand strength, older people, arthritis, if you have to do a large amount of pruning any of those and this thing is a lifesaver. It rips through large branches easily. Also helpful if you are in the Dewalt battery ecosystem already.

I've had this tool for 2 seasons now. I'm rather proud that I haven't lost a finger yet. These are incredibly powerful, and make easy work of some major pruning and yard-clearing jobs. Once you see how easily they'll slice through large branches, you'll understand how they can slice through a finger no problem.

Used this today to clean out a bunch of succors and shoots from a Washington Thorn, a DeWalt would not have been near as useful as this light and nimble tool. Able to get this into tight spots easily. Tell dad to KEEP FREE HAND AWAY from this tool...get lazy and lose a finger.
i'll let him know, but he's a farmer who farmed until he was 80 years old with all his digits intact. i think he knows how to respect his tools. but i'll remind him just in case!

Good deal...he just needs to focus, it's easy to get lost when the tool is so efficient..you want to keep it busy. Had a friend clip his finger (nothing detached, just a gash) and get stitches uses the DeWalt version, it was quitting time, he was thinking of picking up son for baseball practice, etc. Now he says just the sound of the tool makes him cringe a little.
