Don't get these. The base hinge wears out and the fan slumps down. The fan is no longer able to spin and then a non-resettable fuse burns up and basically turns this into garbage unless you know how to solder.

I had to look this up since this seems like a really good deal. The fuse is in the plug, just pry it open with a small flat screwdriver, pop out the fuse, and replace with a new fuse.
There's also a thermal cutout in the motor, like all electric motors have. When these cut out, you have to unplug the device for some period of time for it to work again. If that part goes bad, then that might take soldering.
I can't speak to the "base hinge wearing out" issue except that I didn't see many complaints on that in the amazon reviews.
All in all, it's $7.50 for a desk fan, which is a good deal regardless of any possible issues down the line. I picked up two 2-packs.

These things work pretty well. I've had a couple of them, one has been running for years. Another one I ran in my office for a few years before the motor finally wore out. The price is right for 2, and I was looking for this timely replacement. Thanks OP!

Have you guys noticed lately how SD posts a sponsored deal and the first comment is a negative comment and the following comments are defensive comments trying to counter the genuine negative comment? Gotta push the stuff through I guess.

I really like these, especially the design and the safe cloth blades. The one I had previously got burnt, and I was trying to replace it with USB-C powered ones, but I miss my old fan.
I thought it was the motor, since it had been running for years, but the previous commenter gave me an idea that it might be a fuse, and I'll try fixing it.
Not meh imho, very cool product design, voting to be displayed in MoMA
Got mine in Office Depot clearance, maybe 15 years ago for $10

I don't know what to believe anymore because of bs ai. the only thing I've noticed is that almost every comment on sd seems to be voted down automatically.

I had a bunch of these at the office for years. I think only 1 of 5 of them died. They were fine but they didn't move that much air. They are quiet though when they operated which is important to me.

had this for over a decade. never use it when you are really hot since this makes 747 jumbo sound with no air pushing. however, this is a fun toy for kids. kids love to touch the fan blade when spinning. i'm buying for a white elephant gift and annoy my coworkers. I think I bought one for 12 bux back when frys was open.

Bunch of critiques in this thread like we're talking about a $400 Dyson fan.
It's a $7 fan: Of course it's not going to last forever, be super quiet, or push a hurricane's worth of air around. Jeez....
