Read the instructions for your machine, but for most this will use your pack during the rinse cycle and drain out most of the soap at that point, not leaving enough for the wash cycle. I also learned that the tablets work better for most machines than the packs, and some machines (such as mine) explicitly do not recommend using packs, and suggest tablets (or powder) instead.
