If you are making that comparison, get the base version of the M4 Mac mini and save yourself hundreds of dollars.

I upgraded to this from an M1 MBP with the aim to visualize W11 using Fusion. The whole thing absolutely flies and was worth it.

That's with 16GB RAM, at least here in NJ. The 24GB RAM is $969.

There's another post here on SD for the base model 16GB/256GB @ $449 and can be price-matched at BB.

An upcharge of $400 for an additional 8GB RAM and a 256GB larger SSD doesn't feel slick. But if you need the extra RAM then this is the only option as I've read the RAM is integrated directly into the Apple M4 chip and soldered to the logic board.

I did the $449 deal with PM to BB where I had a bunch of rewards bucks. I am now using the Mac Mini as my daily driver and keeping my PC for gaming. Windows 11 has just broken me for wanting to keep using Windows more than needed.
So far the Mini has been outstanding. Especially for anyone already into the Apple ecosystem at all. It easily mirrors my iPhone so I can use my iPhone right from the Mini, I have iMessage and can easily cast to one of our Apple TVs. So far I haven't encountered anything that I miss from my Windows PC except when it comes to higher end games.
So for anyone that has been curious, the base Mini seems to be able to do pretty much everything already. Not sure the extra 8GB of RAM will help much, and I would maybe save the money and get a base Mini, get one of the $60 docks that give you extra ports and add an NVME slot, and get a 2TB NVME drive for $120. Get a bunch more storage than even this deal and 16GB RAM in OS X seems to be plenty.
I have a few browser windows open, iMessage, email, Discord, Steam, other misc stuff, and my memory usage is only showing 7GB of 16. If you are planning to do video editing or something then it may be worth stepping up, but if you are doing like me and just looking for a daily productivity machine the base unit is great.

I've noticed that the more money Apple got, the more greedy they became. Typical for a company run by a liberal
Liberal and conservative have nothing to do with it. All publicly traded companies are greedy, and all of them want to make as much money as possible. That's just the name of the game for them. The only way Apple is different is that they've created enough social cache that they can push the limits of sanity with pricing and anti-consumer strategy and people still want their products. I assure you, if Halliburton or Uline or whatever other conservative-run company could get away with charging insane rates like Apple they'd gladly do it.
