Why would anyone get these over rechargable ones? You can get a charger and a set of 8 for around this money and that will last as long as 100's if not 1000's of these.

They handle heat and cold a lot better than any other type of AA battery. I have them in a motion light in my back yard. They last around two months. Any other type of AA battery I would be changing them every week. Not running it now, but I always used them in my trail camera. Same deal. Would run for months without needing to change the batteries. I use Eneloops for lights and other stuff in the house, but anything outside I use these.

How do you all dispose of these though? It's lithium so it shouldn't go in household trash, and seemingly nobody accepts bare lithium batteries for recycling anymore

Just an FYI that lithium is not recommended for most cold applications. Any emergency equipment, like an avalanche beacon, should be using alkaline.

I believe that is rechargeable lithium batteries. These are not rechargeable and are recommended for use in cold weather over alkaline batteries.

Lithium batteries tend to discharge abruptly in sub-zero environments, potentially leading to a sudden and unexpected loss of power, which can be dangerous in a search and rescue scenario.
I had this drilled into me when I went through my AIARE training.

I still believe that refers to rechargeable lithium batteries, not disposable lithium batteries. Rechargeable lithium or NiMH are bad in cold weather, but there are many references online to using these disposable lithium batteries for cold weather.

I've had a lot of misinformation drilled into my head, sometimes because of someone's anecdotal experience or old data. The voltage curves and usable mAH look significantly better with lithium over alkaline at 0 C and -20 C. If my life depends on it, I would go with lithium in the cold.

That's the good and bad with lithium. Voltage is stable until it suddenly drops off at the end. That comes sooner in the cold. I can see how that would be a problem in certain situations. However, alkaline performance is shockingly bad in the first place when it is really cold.

Also, if you have instruments that use voltage to determine how much power you have left, and the power meter is based on alkaline curves, you can be fooled into thinking you have a full charge with lithium, when in reality it's about to die.

That is a different issue and, as mentioned, occurs at any temperature with disposable lithium batteries.

Cold weather you say? You want lithium batteries. Not rechargeable, Not alkaline. Lithium batteries like these energizers can still deliver full voltage and have nearly all capacity down to -40.
