There's little more annoying than being told you can't update the OS with the patch your Mac just downloaded b/c you don't have enough space… and now you're stuck with even less space on the ssd than usual b/c the downloaded update is still sitting around.
And you think that the other person is a "boomer" because they think that's dumb?

There's little more annoying than being told you can't update the OS with the patch your Mac just downloaded b/c you don't have enough space… and now you're stuck with even less space on the ssd than usual b/c the downloaded update is still sitting around.
I still use my 2012 Mac mini with a 256gb hard drive.
It's always on, never been turned off. Only restarted for updates.
Always 480+ tabs open in Firefox and 200+ in safari . Thunderbird with 13 email accounts and over 100,000 emails going back over a decade.
Folders with thousands of projects, mostly photoshop, and lots of excel, for 8 different businesses.
I still have 140gb of free space.
While I think it's absurd that they even offer 256gb at all, the statement about it only being good for light browsing and email is just as absurd.

But if Apple provided a useful storage capacity on a $1000+ device, how will they coerce people into paying monthly for iCloud? Gotta protect those margins Lol

Older? M3, M4? All have great performance. I even have a M1 13.6 inch that performs fantastic.
