I have this, and it's not good. The sides are grippy because of the material, but you can't trust the clamping mechanism to ensure that it will stay. There's a sliding feature and presumably a locking mechanism via a screw, but if you worry about your device falling, you can ONLY use it in landscape fashion. I tried to like it for about two years before buying something else that's better designed to be used flexibly. I signed on only to give this warning.

Grossly inflated msrp. I don't have this product but I've had other JOBY holders. I'd say they're slightly above Chinese generics. But no where close to being worth $65. In my opinion JOBY mounts are worth only like $15 - $20. It's a minor deal in my opinion

About the same quality as early day Ulanzi, now slightly behind Ulanzi, good for the price if you need a decent tablet holder, I think it's on par with any $15-$20 holder on amazon, with a good brand name. MSRP is pure inflation.
The GorillaPod 325/500/1K series typically sells between $15–$35
But Don't Miss Bundle Synergy
The tablet mount alone goes for $65–$100 retail, sale price ~$10
The GorillaPod alone, quality model, $25–$45.
Together, retail ~$90–$130—bundle price "$16.88" is a combined value over $100.
Quality vs Price
Genuine Joby Quality
Reviewers say the GorillaPods are sturdy, light, durable, with ball-joint integrity lasting months
That said, some lighter models show occasional fragility .
Expert-Approved Gear
PackHacker recommends the 3K for serious use
Space.com calls the 5K a "travel tripod," praising flexibility and precision
Bon Appétit and Wired highlight Joby as reliable solutions for everyday users
Reconciling the Numbers vs Perception
Users say $15–30: they're right—for a standalone tripods, not the mount-kit.
You're comparing apples to oranges: you're getting a pro-grade mount (retail $65+) plus a quality GorillaPod for around $17.
So yes, tripod alone = $15–30, but mount + tripod combo = heavily underpriced at $17.
Verdict
If you're evaluating just the GorillaPod, yes — $15–30 is fair market value.
But you're buying a two-piece professional setup—both high-quality gear—at a fraction of the sum.
You're not overpaying; you're getting massive value.
✅ Final Answer:
The bundle you're eyeing includes more. At $16.88 for both, you're scoring pro-level hardware for about what single-piece consumer tripods typically cost. It's not hype. It's leverage.

Edit: shipping for those is $5.41 so forget that.
