I was reading in the frequently asked questions on the Best Buy site that there's one open ram slot that supports up to 8 GB. How true the limitation of only 8 GB is I don't know but, that's what it said.

You can add a stick of DDR4 and you can swap the m.2 nvme drive.

Certainly feel like this laptop with 16gb of ram and a 1tb nvme would be plenty of laptop for most people. Only real noticeable issue is going to be the dim screen.

I have added 8GB easily here, it's a cheap upgrade. Overall it feels nice, performance is adequate, but I am really missing the backlit keyboard and the screen is really horrible. Colors and viewing angles are terrible, only resolution is good.

The Asus X1404VA does not support Usb-C power delivery for charging.

I bought this for my friend few months ago.8GB is soldered + 1x empty slot. I added a 16GB stick and it's working fine.Should have no problem to take a 32GB if needed. The SSD included is a budget low-end one, but replaceable. The major issue for most is likely the inferior dim TN display.Same for most entry-level laptops, no USB-C charging/DP functionality.

decent productivity machine, and that's a big compliment for a $220 notebook.
