Display is inherently strange. it's portrait orientation instead of landscape. Software makes it landscape. Overlays like the AMD one show up oriented portrait. You've been warned.

It's been confirmed that the software improvements to windows they're making for the ROG Xbox Ally are coming to other handhelds as well:

> Similar full-screen Xbox experiences will be rolling out to other Windows handhelds, starting next year.

Is this why the AMD overlay always shows up in portrait? For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why that was happening or how to fix it.

that is simply not true, GAMER NEXUS has a video review of it winning against the ALLY in every single profile

Oh wow, I was thinking of that exact video when I made my post, but I must've been misrembering the results because it's been awhile since I've looked at it. Looked it up again and you're right. I think it was the performance that was lagging behind the Z1E, not the battery (and in the unplugged framerate tests, he compares the Legion Go's highest unplugged performance profile (20W) to the Ally's middle performance profile (15W) for some reason, so those results seem to be mostly irrelevant).

This a warm deal at best. It was this same price over 8 months ago. And then it was $350 a couple weeks ago at Target. At this rate, you are better off waiting for the next gen models.
I'm not sure if the tariffs will alter this typical timeline for electronics (plan to buy at a big discount before the new models arrive). My concern is that for many, this handheld is uncomfortably big for the normal use case, similar to how the netbooks of around 15 years ago were just a bit too small.

It might but it was only a couple of weeks ago when Target had it for $350. The ROG Ally X and MSI Claw 8 have gone up $100 in price, but those are the highly sought after ones. The Legion Go has significantly less demand.

Good point, I'll keep an eye out for a firesale if it comes. While it's not something I would buy outside of a large discount compared to its peers, I'm also the kind of slick dealer who would buy a Zune over an iPod if the Zune was being firesaled for around half the price or more of its would-be competitor.

If you're comfortable with used items, there are plenty around my area with 2tb upgrades around $400. I use the FB marketplace and offerup.

Nothing at that price point near me. That's the problem with anecdotal information.

I mean there's also Reddit r/hardwareswap and ebay. I figured it would be easier to start there. Plenty of LeGo sold on hardwareswap. In the last 2 weeks more than 4 have been sold. Most of them with 1tb or 2tb. You could check every few days if you were inclined to find a good deal.

I dunno, maybe? Ebay has a good amount of volatility. Reddit is anecdotal.

Most ppl who sold their LeGo have shipped, so you do you. Did you look at the amounts of LeGo that sold in the last two weeks and the prices they went for?

Please pardon my silly question... I am interested in an ultra portable computer for working off of. Would something like this work for me if I got a BT keyboard or something? There is one moderately known company bridiging the gaps between these and they are really appealing to me, but a no name company is not.

Are there any rumors around when to expect RDNA4 architecture in handheld gaming systems?
I'm just wondering if it's worth buying this and skipping the Z2E's coming out this year, since they'll be more than double the price for only 15-20% performance boost (I don't care much for the efficiency improvements).

so either way you actively run at less then 60fps and then add more latency for double the "frames"

frame generation is a worthless joke for these devices
it's not worthless, you don't know what you're talking about, especially for racing simulator games. The LeGo easily runs ACC at over 60fps natively, even at 20W TDP.

It isn't bad to have choices. SteamOS is a single-purpose OS that doesn't try to do too much outside of gaming. It can but it isn't in your face like Windows can be. Right now, I just want to turn it on and run Fantasy Life and it does just that. There's a suspend feature that's pretty neat too but my controllers currently don't reconnect after suspending until you reboot the system.
While I am not disagreeing with your comment of what SteamOS is 'trying to do,' however you of course still have desktop mode which is where a full fledged version of Linux lives. That is ready, willing, and able to be a full blown desktop OS experience, just most Windows users (including myself) do not use it to the full potential.

In desktop mode, You hook a keyboard, mouse, and monitor (or TV) to your Steam Deck and you can be editing PDF's, doing your taxes, creating CAD files, etc whatever you want just like Windows.

That being said, I actually want a Legion Go so I have a Windows based handheld alongside my SD.
