I would never buy a shop vac under 5HP, unless you have very specific needs. I have two 5HP ones that I use for all kinds of random cleanups even outside.. decorative rock my kids mess up, cat hair in crevices around the pool, one time we had a plumbing leak and vacuumed it all up after turning off the water... the extra power is the whole point of lugging these things around, they get the jobs since fast and well

The big question is the size to hp requirements. Is there any 5 hp wetvac in the 2 gallon to 3 gallon size?

My go to is a Ridgid 4 gallon. It's small enough imo.. I keep it on the back porch though, not in the house. If they made a smaller one with the same power I would probably buy it.
