Almost all OLED displays on laptops are glossy unless they're the top-of-the-line ThinkPads or other such lineups of other brands. Anti-glare on an OLED defeats the whole purpose of it being an OLED. Plus, a gaming laptop doesn't necessitate an OLED display to be anti-glare. This is nothing new.

I feel like this is a pretty good deal, been watching the Lenovo Legions and for some reason they command a premium compared to some of the other laptop manufacturers. The only con, to me, is 15.1" screen, but some could spin it as a plus for being smaller. You could also argue this isn't as premium as the 7i pro. Would have preferred something bigger though.Sure it's no 4070/5070, that we like to see for ~$1100 but everything for me gets ticked that I want (minus speaker as good as Zephyrus). +OLED, > 120hz, 1+ additional RAM & M2 Slot, WiFi7, HDMI 2.1, Above Average CPU, latest Average GPU
Pretty good deal at 4.19lb, I just bought a refurbished (30 days warranty?) HP with RTX4060, 16.1" 144hz, i7-14650HX, Wifi 6E, 32GB memory, 1TB, 1920x1080. For $950.
This one is $250 more and gets better GPU, CPU, OLED, higher resolution. Memory can be upgraded for $38.

a while back in January i was to snag a legion 5i 4060 new at walmart for 879 plus taxes. While it was good the laptop, it had a distorted speaker issue. At close to max volume it would distort. Ands the volume was extremely lacking, like they put some toy speakers inside. It was a deal breaker enough for me to return it as there was no stock left for exchange. Lenovo does make very good laptops but the stupidly skimped on the speakers. It was cool in the wasd areas and all around when playing games. Love the look.
I also had my experience with alienwares m16 r2 with a 4070 with best buys open boxes for even less than the legion 4060. But those are freaken run hot! Unbearably so on the wasd and all around in general. Although dells speakers were pretty touch notch. The screen was mediocre at 300 nits. It had bluescreens but were fixed after bios updates.
I also got my hands on a alienware m16 r1 with a 4080 open box for under 1500 ish after taxes. Speakers were awesome. Best i have experience and loud. screen was the same 300 nits. I would have kept it but it was used by a heavy smoker and it smelled like an ash tray. Fans were gummed up with tar. Nasty.
I had my try of the 2025 omen max with the 5080. Everything was good besides the speakers being not loud at all. For the price it wasnt acceptable for me. Omens were slightly warmer than legions in wasd. Not a fan of the keyboard keys and arrow key crammed layout. Build quality was pretty good but i hated barrel jacks plugs. They always seen to be unstable and wobble a lot. No undervolting because it was locked down. Hated the fact that in order to upgrade the boot nvme you have to take off the whole heatsink and repaste. For these reason i past up on all the previous hp.com deals on the omen max recently.
I finally got my dream laptop a few days ago. Its the 2025 legion 7 pro with a 5070ti oled screen from microcenter for 1760 plus taxes. Excellent price for a legion. No complaints at all. Runs cool. All heat vented to the rear. The underside was surprisingly cool. I could lay it on my bare skin thighs and game. Fast. Speakers are good since it had 4 total but not as loud as the alienware 4080. I can undervolt to make it even cooler. For the price this is a keeper. https://www.microcenter.com/product/691610/lenovo-legion-pro-7-16iax10h-oled-16-gaming-laptop-comput...[microcenter.com]

How did you get it in 1760, is it store only price?
Okay I gotta ask.. I got a Lenovo pro 7 last year. 4080 32gb ram 2 TB AMD 9 processor for 1800 on sale. Why are these 5000 series GPU laptops so cheap? are they not good? or what? lol

Because the cost increase for a x080 series vs x060 is massive. I mean even on these two the only difference is a 5060 vs 5070 and the price goes up $450. Also the Lenovo Legion Pro 7 is a tier above this in build quality. Your 4080 should perform better than the 5070 here, but the build quality on yours is likely a LOT higher.
Oh also to hit these price points, Lenovo threw in a 2 generaiton old CPU. This is a 14th gen CPU with known throttling issues and no Copilot certification/NPU unit (if that matters to you).

You bought a premium top of the line 7 series Legion laptop with high end x80 gpu. This is a midrange 5 series Legion laptop with low end x60 gpu. If you go up to 5070, a midrange GPU, it's only $150 cheaper than yours. I bought my Legion 7 3080 couple years ago for $1800 on eBay and love it. It's such a nice laptop. For $150 more I'll take Legion 7 any day. You still have double the ram and double the storage. Then you have other nice things that come with a premium tier laptop like per key RGB. 5 series only has 4 zones where 7 series can do each individual key. So you can light up all the keys used in a game with different color for example. That's just one example off the top of my head. Love me Legion 7, one of the nicest gaming laptops you can buy.

Okay thank you makes sense I was like should I have waited? But good to know !

Not really true. Yeah, most OLED laptops are glossy, but that's more of a trend than a technical requirement. Saying anti-glare "defeats the purpose" of OLED doesn't really make sense—OLED is about deep blacks and rich colors, and you can still have those with a matte or semi-matte finish. Some newer models - even gaming ones - are starting to come with anti-glare OLEDs exactly because people are tired of mirror-like reflections. And it's definitely not just top-tier ThinkPads doing this.
I know mixing and matching different memory modules sometimes gives issues. Does anyone know which would be the best match for the one currently installed?

Weird thing is that it's not 4.19 lbs, it says starting at that weight but no review I've seen has ever weighed it at anything less than 5 lbs, so Lenovo must be inflating the figure by removing the battery and other components or something else.
