I also had my experience with alienwares m16 r2 with a 4070 with best buys open boxes for even less than the legion 4060. But those are freaken run hot! Unbearably so on the wasd and all around in general. Although dells speakers were pretty touch notch. The screen was mediocre at 300 nits. It had bluescreens but were fixed after bios updates.
I also got my hands on a alienware m16 r1 with a 4080 open box for under 1500 ish after taxes. Speakers were awesome. Best i have experience and loud. screen was the same 300 nits. I would have kept it but it was used by a heavy smoker and it smelled like an ash tray. Fans were gummed up with tar. Nasty.
I had my try of the 2025 omen max with the 5080. Everything was good besides the speakers being not loud at all. For the price it wasnt acceptable for me. Omens were slightly warmer than legions in wasd. Not a fan of the keyboard keys and arrow key crammed layout. Build quality was pretty good but i hated barrel jacks plugs. They always seen to be unstable and wobble a lot. No undervolting because it was locked down. Hated the fact that in order to upgrade the boot nvme you have to take off the whole heatsink and repaste. For these reason i past up on all the previous hp.com deals on the omen max recently.
I finally got my dream laptop a few days ago. Its the 2025 legion 7 pro with a 5070ti oled screen from microcenter for 1760 plus taxes. Excellent price for a legion. No complaints at all. Runs cool. All heat vented to the rear. The underside was surprisingly cool. I could lay it on my bare skin thighs and game. Fast. Speakers are good since it had 4 total but not as loud as the alienware 4080. I can undervolt to make it even cooler. For the price this is a keeper.

Because the cost increase for a x080 series vs x060 is massive. I mean even on these two the only difference is a 5060 vs 5070 and the price goes up $450. Also the Lenovo Legion Pro 7 is a tier above this in build quality. Your 4080 should perform better than the 5070 here, but the build quality on yours is likely a LOT higher.
Oh also to hit these price points, Lenovo threw in a 2 generaiton old CPU. This is a 14th gen CPU with known throttling issues and no Copilot certification/NPU unit (if that matters to you).

Not really true. Yeah, most OLED laptops are glossy, but that's more of a trend than a technical requirement. Saying anti-glare "defeats the purpose" of OLED doesn't really make sense—OLED is about deep blacks and rich colors, and you can still have those with a matte or semi-matte finish. Some newer models - even gaming ones - are starting to come with anti-glare OLEDs exactly because people are tired of mirror-like reflections. And it's definitely not just top-tier ThinkPads doing this.
Most disappointing.
