The vacuum insulation means the heated water stays at your set temp (like 175 F) without requiring as much electricity to continue to heat the water to maintain the set temp. Basically its way more energy efficient than a model without vacuum insulation.

I absolutely agree with getting a vacuum insulated one. They're way more energy efficient as they don't require as much electricity to maintain the temp you set the water to (such as 175 F).

For functionally the same counter space, the boiling water is always there immediately and on demand. If you make 5 cups of tea in a day you don't have to boil water five times, it's just instantly ready every time. It's surprising how nice that is.

How old is it? Mine started looking brownish and upon taking the lid apart I found that the screws inside had completely rusted and the plastic had deteriorated to the point where it disintegrated like it was styrofoam. It was pretty nasty, no way to fix it but to order a new lid. I'd see about inspecting that thing, otherwise who knows what's winding up in your water.

I watched the video and I still don't get it. My 1.5kW kettle heats a few ounces of water in a couple minutes. A full liter in about 5 minutes.

5 minutes vs instant hot water. For families that drinks tea/hot water every day, it's a no brainer honestly. No need to grab your kettle, fill it with water, put it on stove, turn on the stove, wait 5 minutes, turn off your stove, and then brew your tea. Simply grab your tea and cup,press the button for hot water, and you saved 5 minutes every time you drink tea/hot water.

No, it's an electric gooseneck kettle. Typically already has water so I push a button in 2 minutes later when I'm done getting a tea bag, it's ready. This device you would still need to refill with water and you can't use it for a pour over.
This is more like a water heater that's constantly keeping water hot for your shower. Which makes sense because it would take a lot of time to heat up enough water for a shower. The trade off with this is you save a whole 2 minutes by heating water 24/7. I have their water bottles for water and coffee already and love the company but still seems like a waste of electricity to save a couple minutes. I could see how it would be beneficial for some but I prefer a pour over or cold brew or iced tea and have a smaller household so this isn't ideal for any of those situations.

You won't get it until you've had one of these or if your family uses hot water constantly. It's a game changer for many people. Different people have different needs. Big surprise. No one is trying to convince you to get one so I won't even say more good things about it.

To add to that, if you are a heavy tea consumer. You will save a small amount of electricity as well. Since every time you use a kettle, there is a minimum amount of water you need to bring to a boil. Wasting energy on hot water you wont use. In addition to that, a kettle doesnt get the temperature perfect. It takes time for the water to convect inside the kettle, which makes a water temp gradient.

Just my 2 cents but my wife and I were gifted one when we got married, this was back in 2005. Yeah, the dang thing lasted 2 decades and still chugging along. I really doubt your electric gooseneck kettle will last that long and probably be in the landfill a few times over vs this item.

I also only use RO water in it so never have to deal with any stains or hard water. Might also be the reason it's lasted this long.
