How is the transfer rate on this monster? Is that ever an issue? I would just use it back up photos, videos, and some documents, like tax filings.

My last shucked WD drive just recently died on me with no warnings, no SMART issues nothing. Likely a firmware lockup of some kind. 6tb gone but mostly backups thankfully. Not planning on getting another WD when they can fail like that especially consumer grade.

WD drives less than 8 TB are likely SMR drives that should be avoided.
