it depends on your workflow. the S4 is great but it's all in one chamber. The space pi has two compartments so you can dry different filaments at different temps for different durations. that's pretty much the biggest difference. other than that, you should think about your setup to see if your filament path works well with how the spools and outlets are oriented.

In that event stick with the cheaper one. Get some experience with your printer before making other accessories purchases.

as crazyheaven said, stick with the cheaper one if you already bought it. or better yet, cancel that order and get a single or dual spool dryer for even cheaper and takes up less space. if your daughter is only starting out, who knows if she or you will stick with it. get some experience and knowledge and you can always get a larger dryer in the future. these things will only get cheaper (and better).

Is there a dual spool version available on sale? Interested in this dryer to the higher temperatures this can go for engineering filaments compared to the sunlu.

Don't over do it. I have never had to dry my filament (PLA/ABS/ASA), if you live in a dry climate you won't have to either. TPU/PETG will need to be dried if you use those, PLA/ABS/ASA if you have high humidity too. Make sure your printer is somewhere somewhat climate controlled, garage or damp basement is not a good spot for them. And don't go crazy buying stuff, I see a lot of people get 3D printers then spend $300 on filament and stuff and only use it a few times 😂.

An even better deal is to just buy 2x Sovol SH02, which is what I have, they are $69 each.

All the benefits of independent chambers, and without the risk that one single expensive piece of gear dies and needs replacement.

The heater in this deal has a bit more power than the SH02.

Also I had 2 creality dryers before and returned them over bad RH sensors. The ones in my SH02 unit on the other hand have been great.

I live in Southern TN ( Read as it gets 98 degrees and 98% humidity during summer) and I keep my filament opened in my garage. I have never had a moisture issue. Anecdotal evidence to be sure but it is my opinion that unless you are printing with something other than PLA, PLA+ or PETG there is absolutely zero reason for a filament dryer. I haven't tried nylon or other hydroscopic filaments so those may need to be dried but for the vast majority of people filament dryers are a complete waste. Here is a YT of someone soaking filament in water and yes he gets some degradation of the filament when soaked it still supports that it wont get wet enough to matter being exposed and even less so if you store it in a watertight container with desiccant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CFxT1q6dX8 Here is another https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O...aRA&t=341s TLR: unless your 3d printing exotic materials don't waste your money on a dryer!

I live in Houston and not true at all. Definitely have to dry your filament even just PLA and storing it in bag with desiccant helps go longer between needing to dry. If left out, the filament will become brittle and just snap easily. You can also hear it pop as it prints where the water is turning into vapor. I have been 3D printing for 8 years now too and definitely like that printers now have enclosed storage for the filament as it feeds. Many times on CR-10 or Ender 3, the filament would just snap feeding into extruder as had been on the spool for too long and absorbed too much moisture.

You really want to dry for PETG in a humid environment or you are going to get substandard quality including popping and stringing. PLA sure, you can go without if you want.

I've been printing for 6+ years ( first printer was a Anet A8 kit) and never once had an issue with PLA, PLA+ or PETG. Well I have had issues of course ( who hasn't) but none because of moisture! I just find the claims of how necessary drying is to be greatly exaggerated by people trying to sell me dryers. Watch the video's I linked, dude dunked his filament in water and left it for a week and yea he had some moistures issues at that point but he had to go to great lengths to get it that wet. You do you though I'll keep not worrying about moisture!

That's bad filament. I had some Amazon Basics filament ( no idea who actually made it) I had 6 rolls of the stuff in weird colors I just didn't use. I went to use one and it was brittle and broke easily and I was like oh it was old and left out must be wet right. So I pulled open 4 more brand new rolls out of vacuum sealed plastic bags with desiccant ( as they came new) and every single roll of that filament was brittle. It would be very difficult to claim those sealed filaments were wet IMO. Meanwhile I have 20+ other rolls of different branded filament sitting opened that are old and those haven't gotten brittle ! I just printed a benchy with a sample of opened PLA that I found in a drawer that was the free sample of white PLA that came with one of my Anet A8 kits! That was 6+ year old filament forgotten about in a drawer! It printed a perfect benchy ( I was testing the printer after some printer mods/ tweaks)

Amazon price is same as Creality website's and this coupon takes $8 off. Creality doesn't have easy return options like Amazon if you find the device faulty or just isn't the right one for you. https://www.amazon.com/Creality-F...1V24/?th=1
