It's really cheaply built. It's supposed to be waterproof but water got inside the first time I used it, causing the screen to malfunction.

For $5, you get what you pay for 😅.

I started the return process and Amazon let me keep it. It's working ok after drying out. I wouldn't use it near water again.

I have a Lavatools Javelin that's much better built and reacts to temperature change much faster (1-2 sec vs. 4-5sec on this one).

A pro or restaurant employee would already know this. No, it's about as good as you'll find in the Aldi Aisle of Shame. Disposable at best. Anything from ThermoWorks is what you want.

I got this and was surprised how fast this thing measured temps, much faster than my other 2 ones which are now trashed. But others in this comment thread seem to have had differing experiences.
