It's usually valves or those flexibile lines under sinks and toilets, water heaters, or air conditioner units that cause water damage in houses not the actual water lines. It happens to everyone sooner or later- I would highly recommend getting something like this.

Great deal, but when did water lines get so unreliable that I'd need sensors/monitor them for leakage?
I just spent 13k out of pocket to repair a kitchen after a pinhole leak in my fridge ice maker line. No homeowners coverage for slow leaks. This was my first purchase afterwards because I never want to do that again.

Generally, there is homeowners coverage for pipes and lines that are sudden bursts. Having suffered one ..upstairs toilet supply line when I was not home…would never want to go thru it again….insurance or no insurance. Great to pair these with the automatic water shutoffs. It doesn't take long for a LOT of damage to occur. If it's your washing machine line it's the same as a garden hose running at full force.

The thing I REALLY like about this one and the shutoff, is it works even if power is lost. You're away on a winter vacation and lose electricity……pipes freeze and burst…..with this and the shutoff (if paired correctly) it will shutoff the house water. There are a couple of shutoffs …bulldog is one.

About a year and a half back, we bought the version that has both the leak detectors, and fridge or freezer sensors. After having a fridge die, this has been handy.

I recommend next to your fridge. My wife and I had our fridge die the day after we left on vacation. The icemaker in the door melted and left water all over our hardwood floors in the kitchen. We returned a week later to destroyed floors. If I had bought this before then, I wouldn't have had to replace the flooring. I could have called up a family member and had them check. Other spots? Under the washer discharge hose. Bathroom floors in bathrooms you don't frequent. Basements at known leak points. Water heater pan. Only minor irritation is that the batteries are a bit annoying to get to for replacement purposes.

Great sensors and detects droplets of water on top and bottom. Notification caveat-Google integration for improved notifications is lackluster at best. YoLink app does the job for app notifications. Txt msg limited to 8ish a month (free). No alarm-like configuration, at least I couldn't find.

Got a couple of the alarm version for $48 each. Suffered from pipe bursting when on vacation and it caused a lot of suffering.

Why won't they sell the set without the Hub? It's almost more expensive to get just sensors.

Definitely worth getting the model with the sensors. Great devices regardless, YoLink makes great stuff.

I have their same hub but with temperature/humidity sensors. They work very well. Accurate and amazing range.

Good to give friends or family, maybe that's the plan? But yeah I have a ton of extra hubs and you can actually run a few of them in case one area loses power, or you get better reach (although rarely an issue with these).

Yah, it's actually interesting. You do not pair to a hub, you pair to your account. You can have multiple hubs, and indeed I do!
Also interesting is that it doesn't even have to be YOUR hub! It can be a neighbor, or if you drive around with a door sensor you can notice alerts if it picks up any hub in distance. Where I live, I can drive around most of the city and pick up someone's hub interestingly enough (10 miles away from my home).
All the payload is encrypted I believe, so the hubs just pass data to the servers for processing.
Now the local hub gets weird. There's local handling of traffic, but it also sends to the cloud. I have not tried if that traffic can be picked up by any other hub. I'll have to try that.
