Interesting. I see a link to https://www.amazon.com/l/17985366...B0DM18Q2M1 on the product page.
From fine print, "The amount listed in the promotional offer includes the 5% Back you already earn on Amazon.com purchases with your Prime Visa, and the extra % Back you can earn with this promotion."
Perhaps it's YMMV?

I have 2 of these for the Switch 2. They did require a firmware update out of the box in order to work with the Switch 2. This was an easy update using the 8BitDo update utility software you can download to your Mac or PC.These work great with the Switch 2. The only con is that they can't be used to power on the Switch like you can with the JoyCon or Pro controller.

Be careful with these ...
I've always liked 8BitDo controllers for the Switch. The tiny pink and blue ones were lifesavers for my kids, who aren't exactly gentle with their gear. So when I saw these were compatible with the Switch 2, I jumped on it.
Unfortunately, the experience hasn't been great.
First, the firmware update process is clunky. You have to use a computer, and the updater itself is buggy and hard to navigate. When I reached out to support, their response was basically, "Just do the thing." The issue? I work in IT, and even I had to dig through online forums to figure out how to get each controller into the right mode. Some require holding two buttons before plugging in, some want the controller on, others off—it's inconsistent and frustrating.
Then there's the connectivity. Our Switch 2 is wall-mounted behind the TV, same setup we had with the Switch 1, which worked fine. We sit maybe 15 feet away, and the controllers constantly lost connection. My daughter would be playing Mario Kart and complain that she couldn't steer. I figured she was overreacting—until I tried it myself. There was a noticeable delay in input, and the controller often didn't register when she let go of the stick. It felt like stick drift but wasn't. On top of that, the controllers would randomly disconnect—lights flashing, and then they'd just power off mid-game.
We bought two of these, plus one Ultimate controller (which worked a little better, but not by much). Eventually, I returned all three and picked up two official Pro controllers from Costco. Best decision I made. I won't be going the third-party route for Switch controllers again—8BitDo included.

I got one a couple of weeks ago and it works great with the switch 2. I didn't have any issues updating the firmware using the 8bitdo app other than finding a Windows app since they stopped providing the firmware and cannot use linux to flash new versions. My wife cannot use the joycons sideways due to carpal issues but she has no issues with this controller. We also have a usb stick from 8bitdo to connect the PS5 controllers and also works great

Got one of these a few weeks ago and immediately had stick drift and delay to recognize button presses. I don't recommend this.

Not trying to be a turd but I'm surprised you had such a hard time with the firmware update process. You mentioned having 2 of the micro controllers. I can't speak to that model specifically, but every single 8bitdo controller or product I've ever owned (at least 6 different controllers) was just "plug into the computer and click update".

For anyone reading this thinking it's going to be hard to update these controllers to work on Switch 2:
There are no "modes" to that controller. It's strictly a Switch/Switch 2 controller. You just open the 8bitdo Firmware Updater app (found here : https://app.8bitdo.com/Ultimate-Software-V2/), plug in the controller, and click update. That's it.

It's actually this one: https://app.8bitdo.com/Ultimate-Software-V2/ the one you linked doesn't support this controller.

Ah, thanks for the correction. I'll update my link too.

The link I used was for my Ultimate C for Switch (the first iteration of this controller). I didn't notice this post was for the Ultimate 2C (I really hate 8bitdo's naming, as an aside 😆)

Not on Android, no. And not wirelessly on PC either. It SHOULD work on Steam in wired mode as Steam will detect it as a Switch Pro Controller. At least my Ultimate C for Switch (the model before this one) does that. No wireless on anything but Switch and will work in steam when connected via USB

Until your $70 controllers take a crap just after the weak 3-month warranty. They charged me $40 to fix it, and then it only lasted four more months. I'll never buy a pro controller again.
