If you cook rice once in a while and can't tell the difference between instant rice and cooked rice then you should not bother with a smart rice cooker. One of the 20 dollar ones you find at Walmart will be good enough for you

Makes rice in 30 minutes with the quick mode. This one has a turbo mode that they say slightly makes the rice chewier, so I can't see the value in this Cuckoo rice pressure cooker honestly, until I directly compare the rice quality.
Can't link it due to slickdeals I guess.

Has anyone made that same swap and regretted it? The instant pot makes serviceable brown rice but not fantastic… and it is kind of a pain to clean and let dry out. The cook time of ~20m is nice though.
As an Asian who grew up eating rice (both white and brown Instant pot makes really just mediocre rice). Specialized rice cookers like this will do a much better job. If they're not pressurized, the texture of brown rice will obviously be more al dente (if that's your preference). Most Asians would prefer softer texture for brown rice, which is already pretty grainy, so pressure would be my choice.

Might be a price error but I bought the 10 cup. Retail is 279
edit Cancelled the 10 cup it's made in America
My criteria for a good rice cooker is the ability to retain warm cooked rice after 48-96hrs. 96hrs is stretching it… but you'll know when a rice cooker is on its way out is after cooking it and it goes bad in less than 24 hrs on warm. You can sterilize it and maybe get it to last 24 hours… but it just spoils easily. Tried the non induction cuckoo to Ziroshis and they work good at first but then within a couple year or so, the rice spoil easily. Now we have the Cuckoo induction high pressure cooker. Pricey but it somehow it is able to keep the rice from spoiling > 48 hours and still taste good. It's worth its $$ price.
