Cool! This (applied properly) will not kill your grass too. Allow me to share some additional things that will kill weeds (and grass too):

- Fire
- Water (too much)
- Water (too little)
- My kid's giant bounce house
- My dog's waste
- In some spots, my dog not placing enough excrement

You're welcome to add to this list - we'll just use this post based on a great value for a Tenacity to share things that perform similar but markedly different actions than mesotrione.

Trugreen is overwhelmingly a scam. Please search the lawncare subreddit for an endless list of horror stories. Go with a reputable local company.

Vinegar, salt and soap. Didn't think this would work. But it does. Look it up on Reddit. I'm going on a month and no weeds where I sprayed this combination. It will kill grass too so keep that in mind.

I've tried a lot of home remedies. Vinegar does most of the immediate heavy lifting. Salt effectiveness can vary depending on your concentration, how much rain you get, and your property's drainage. Soap helps your solution to "stick" to the plants. I've found baking soda pretty good for getting rid of moss from the lawn without harming the grass.
Depending on your tolerance for manufactured chemicals, I've found chemicals are ultimately more effective cost-wise and duration.
I've been happy with Tenacity in the past, this seems worth a try.

This will work for you. Drive XLR is also an excellent post-emergent crabgrass killer.

Read the label before you buy to ensure your grass won't be harmed. My Fescue and Centipede tolerate this, Zoysia seems even more sensitive than crabgrass to it.

When I first glanced at the title, I read "minestrone." That could have been a very embarrassing trip to the hospital.

Crabgrass dies every fall and leaves seeds that germinate the following spring. Literally just need to apply a preemergent before they germinate and they won't come back.

Crabgrass seeds can last upwards of 20 years. Some seeds may germinate the next spring, some in 2 years, etc up to 20 years.

There are better pre and post emergents than this, but they can't be used for seeding/overseeding. Prodiamine is often praised on Reddit threads in my experience. That'll be my next experiment after I get rid of the pesky bentgrass with this

Mesotrione is the only herbicide that will kill Nimbelwill and not the grass. Takes 2 applications per year and numerous years to eradicate. Like other weeds, the seeds it puts down may be there for years before they germinate.

This is what worked for me, time consuming but very effective.

Buy glyphosate (RoundUp) concentrate, mix it with water in a 1:1 ratio in a small cup. Get a small paint brush, mix the solution well and then start 'painting' the leaves of the Crabgrass. You don't have to paint every leaf, just a few in every group. Be careful, don't let the solution drip, it will kill everything it touches - grass, weed, shrubs etc.

I was very reluctant to use glyphosate for a long time, but finally gave in and tried this with a couple of problem spots along my driveway. All the Crabgrass spots died within 2 weeks.

Use the Spectracide weed killer that specifically says it's for crabgrass. It has quinclorac, which is what you want for crabgrass. I use it every year as soon as the crabgrass shows up and it works great!
