In my opinion Instant Pot RIO Wide Base, 7.5 Qt for $90 is better deal.

It's too small. You want the larger version. Just go to any thrift store and pick a used one up for $10. Great product, or at least it was when they first came out. Can't speak to any changes in quality with the turmoil within the company

Not if you're just a 1-3 person household.
6qt's perfect for being able to take 2-6+ pounds of raw chicken from frozen solid to ready-to-shred for pulled bbq chicken, quesadillas, etc., in like 20 minutes flat. That's probably my main use for it.

Was 79.99 in April and I suspect the prime day deal will be very similar

These used to be $50 as it was the most common size bought Instant Pot prior to covid. I had gifted someone 9 qt instant pot that I bought for $70 5 years ago.

My OG IP started to get the ghost touch disease, so I bought one of these to replace it.

It is just awful for searing and sauteeing. The pot doesn't get as hot and has a really hard time recovering when you add food to it.

Meanwhile, my mom's IP Pro seems do just fine. The box says it's 20% more powerful. The conspiracist in me wonders if IP didn't downgrade the duo to create a space for the more expensive Pro.

I really wish I went through the hassle of figuring out the right parts to fix my old one.

how does the rice come out of this? is it as good as a stand alone rice cooker?

You will be disappointed because of the stainless steel pot. There will always be burnt layer of rice at the bottom.

That sounds incredibly useful. Mind sharing your instructions?

Research the Instant Pot's future product plans before you purchase. Then decide if it's a company you want to support.

Good luck finding a replacement seal.

For smaller amounts, e.g., 1-2 cups, you can do PIP.

Target sells an exclusive version of the Duo Plus and puts it on sale 3-4 times a year for <$60.

Not in my experience. Rice likes to brown and stick to the bottom, and with its flat bottom and high walls, it's not the easiest to clean with a bunch of rice stuck to the bottom. Dedicated Zojirushi rice cooker does a much better with making rice 'perfect every time'.

As for making frozen chicken in one of these, it's pretty simple: just put about an inch of water in the bottom, maybe use some bouillon to add some flavor, then throw your chicken in, with a little salt & pepper.

Yeah PIP methods are pretty effective and you can stack multiple smaller pots but this feels like inconvenience. Also you have to be extremely careful to save your fingers from getting burnt when you take out the PIPs and open them. So instead of all these hassles you can just get a dedicated rice cooker or a 6qt nonstick inner pot made by instant if cooking rice is a daily priority.

And I like 6 qt because replacement parts are widely available.
