No. It's never been lower.

I was hoping Nintendo would finally release a "selects" (discounted) version of their games but that looks like a relic of the past.

Odyssey is almost 8 years old and still being sold for $40. 🥲

I've owned Odyssey for years and never got around to playing it. Finally fired it up on the Switch 2 and it's been a blast. Highly recommend picking it up, especially for the S2 as you wait for DK.

Nintendo is never going to discount their 1st party games digital or physical to anything less than $40. Also one of the reasons they got mad at Amazon when they were selling those games at ~$30 (both physical AND digital).

They sold 1st party games for $20 back when they used to re-release older titles as "Nintendo Selects".

It was a thing from SNES all the way through Wii U and apparently stopped with the Switch.

Sad.

Probably because physical is annoying to deal with and lug around everywhere. It's funny because the vast majority of gamers agree, except for the chronically online Reddit gamer ultranerds.
You'll regret those words in 25 years when the servers shut down and you lose access to the games you own. You'll be stuck playing more modern, capable games on superior hardware with a backlog you will never catch up on because life gets in the way.

It's better to buy physical now so you can play on your Switch 2 in 2050 with its deteriorated battery that can last 30 minutes on a full charge instead of playing on future NSO emulators or remasters developed for the latest hardware.

Also, it's currently $39.99 at Target for all those Red Card members out there. Was able to use the 5% off and a gift card to bring it down to $16.

Physical gives you the ability to sell. Given the high value of Nintendo games it makes a lot of sense to buy physical and sell. Buying digital benefits the developer, not the gamer. You recoup no money on a digital purchase.

You realize $20 in 2012 is now like $30. Not really that big of a price increase for exponentially better console and graphics and game quality

You can easily find first party titles for $30 on Craigslist, offer up, Facebook market place if you want physical.

I just got ToF for $35 last weekend.

That wont happen.

Nintendo will be charging $10-20 to "upgrade" your currently owned Switch 1 title

If you want to buy the Switch 2 remastered versions of Switch 1 games like Kirby expect to pay $80 (with added content whatever that means)

Apologies, but I don't understand the point you're trying to make.

Nintendo did the "Selects" re-releases since the SNES all the way up till Wii U in 2016.

Even $30 releases would be fine, the point is they stopped a long established "tradition" since the release of the Switch.

Don't really understand the rest of your post either. Seems irrelevant to the main point.
