personal experiences. kept on head for 15 hours flight no issues as long as you have ACs on

Who said anything about EXPECTING NEWLY launched product at that price other than you? I said I'll get it when it's when it's within the range I'm willing to buy it at. I don't need to have every latest & greatest technology nor do I need to upgrade everytime the next product comes out. The tech doesn't just expire because the newest one comes out and who's to say the new model won't be a downgrade which happens with many products. 6 months to a year, I can guarantee I'll have these at a price I'm willing to pay for them, don't care if that ruffles your feathers for whatever reason 🤣

yeah lol idk what these folks are talking about. i purchased xm2s brand new back in 2018. used them primarily for international flights + vacation (2-3 a year) and theyre still in perfect condition. but then this past december i saw a $198 deal for brand new xm4s and figured why not? but yeah, that $198 deal was FOUR years after the xm4 release (they released august 2020, i purchased my xm4s in december of 2024). so for any major deal on a set of new sony XM series headphones will require years of waiting for it to drop even ~40% off. but i will say that I saw multiple ~$160 deals for refurbished xm4s all over slick deals prior to the xm6 release.

Sony is waaayyyy worse, trust me. Just take a look at some of the youtube reviews and all the reddit complaints. Way too tight, but check them out at BB, you'll see.

I just tried both on at BB and Sony is so much better, it's not even a contest. Going to sell the Ultras and buy a pair of these when they drop in price next.

I don't think you have a firm grasp on these "literally" or "forever" concepts. The XM4s are still selling and selling well. They aren't "expired tech". But what literally nobody said is that they expect to pay $150 for newly launched product at or near its launch.
