Soda companies have priced themselves out of the market. When 40% off is not attractive, it means your prices are too outrageous for the public. It's sugar, water and flavorings...why are you pricing it like fine wine??

Still too expensive. Coke and McDonald's both pulled the same inflation lies to pump up their price way higher than how much inflation actually was. There is no way Coke with an highly optimized logistical system faced the amount of raw material inflation they seemed to have pass on to consumers since 2021. Arizona beverage co. kept their prices more or less stable, and they're way smaller than coke.

Sam's/Costco is $17/35
This is $15/36
It's marginally better but hardly slick.

Soda always goes on sale at Target and most all major grocery stores, during major holiday periods.
In Southern California, Stater Bros is $4.99 per 12pk, when you buy 4. If history holds, they'll likely have the same price next week. I'll also predict that beginning next Wednesday, Ralph's will sell them for $4.49 and Albertsons/Vons $4.40 when you buy 5 (buy 2, get 3 free).

3 pack comes to $5.31 per 12-pack. Is this a deal, used to get $4 a 12-pack?

Agree always used to name brand soda 12-pack for $4 or less and 24-pack for $8 or less.

For me in Topeka, KS, it's a bit cheaper at Walgreens 3 x 12-pack for $13.99 and there's a manufacturer's coupon for $1 OFF.

There is no Coke ingredient that went up in cost to cause this product price to up 50%.
They are 'branding ironing' our minds by jacking up the price and keeping it there for a while. It forces our mind to concede that the 'real world' price is $8. They know no one realize how little the product costs to make. I'm pretty good at this and I would bet $100 without googling that it cost about $.40 to make a 12 pack of Coke. I estimate does not include any thing else like shipping costs, profit margin for Coke profit margin for the store.

I've been using my Walmart subscription for free delivery ($35 min, i get other stuff to make it to 35) to get sams brand 2 liter bottles of coke and caffein free diet coke. FOR $1 A BOTTLE.

it's fine. I enjoy drinking it. Then I just load up on Coke when the price drops to $4.25, which is still crazy expensive, but I get my Coke fix.
I also buy Mexican Coke with sugar at Costco for like 35 bucks for 24 pack I think . I just love Sugared Coke. I defy 'price bands' (i recomend googling that price concept)

Drinking Sam's cola is a way of peacefully protesting to get Coke to lower their prices as well .

I'm not sure what happened with the drink deals at Target, this used to be my go-to place for buying soda. I get that we're way past the 4/$10 days (actually I remember them doing 5/$10 a few times when they had the big PR nightmare with the credit card cyberattack and were throwing all kinds of crazy deals to get customers in the door), but I'm no fan of these "buy 3, get 40% off" deals they do these days when you have to combine it with Circle offers and such. It's just confusing to compare prices. I'd be happier if they'd do something like "4 for $16" or something.
Kroger does have the buy 2, get 3 free later this week, and every brand is $10.99 here. Meijer also has 24 packs for $7.99 when you buy five items BUT they rarely have the Pepsi Zero Sugar that I want in stock. But I find those deals much easier to navigate.

My theory is that they're compensating for fewer people buying soda and jacking up the price for those of us who still drink it. I'm finding more and more people (particularly younger people) all the time who don't drink soda or drink it rarely... honestly they're probably wise for doing so. I'm dangerously close to being priced out of buying it myself. As soon as I'm forced to pay more than $5 for a 12 pack, and if it isn't on sale we've already gone way past that already, I'm probably done.

editing post for clarity. Out of interest, here's the pricing if you just buy 3 after taxes and fees. You can see the pricing of the 4 in the comment reply below. As OP mentioned, there's also an added discount for spend $30 and get $5 off. Missouri: $14.35 ($4.78/pack)Los Angeles: $18.72 ($6.24/pack)
The 12-pack of Cokes are $8.39 before the discount across most Target stores nationwide. Do you see a lower price than that in Missouri?

edit: my math was wrong earlier - looked at the pre-tax total in cart instead of the after tax amount. mb.
