Product Description:
  • Introducing the Rogue hybrid bicycle - The Milo. Bearing the name of the Milo-Grogan neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio, home of Rogue HQ and where this bike originated, this single-speed commuter bike features a lightweight, American-made chromoly steel frame and fork, a modern belt-drive system, reliable disc brakes, and versatile urban tires for both on- and off-road adventures. In an era where most bikes are built overseas, The Milo stands out. True to Rogue principles, it embodies the best of 21st-century engineering and a commitment to quality components and craftsmanship.
  • The Chromoly frame is completed with a durable matte black powdercoat finish. This provides corrosion resistance in combination with a superior, smooth matte finish. Once finished, the head tube receives a Rogue Deuce logo badge. The Rogue Deuce has been a Rogue icon and part of the Rogue story since day one and still sits proudly on display in front of Rogue HQ to this day.
  • The Milo frame is constructed from Chromoly, or chrome molybdenum, known for its superior corrosion resistance, shock absorption, and responsiveness. Due to its excellent strength-to-weight ratio, Chromoly is widely used in industries where speed and performance are paramount. This U.S.-made Chromoly steel frame offers a responsive flex, creating a smooth and superior ride.
  • Cable-actuated front and rear disc brakes are paired with 160mm stainless steel rotors for smooth and reliable stopping power, whether on a busy city street or an off-road adventure. Cable-actuated brakes are optimized for easy maintenance and adjustments without sacrificing all-terrain, stop-on-a-dime performance.
  • The wheels of the Milo are assembled in-house using the Astral Outback alloy rim. The Outback is designed for long-distance rides on dirt or pavement and uses an asymmetric rim design that improves spoke tension balance by up to 30%. The hand built wheel is then paired with Maxxis Hookworm 29" high-volume tires. The bead-to-bead tread on this urban tire ensures durability, traction, and balance for on and off-road cycling.

Stick to the posts where you have knowledge to share. Welding is dramatically more common than brazing in modern bicycle construction, from low end to high end. Brazing is exceptionally uncommon for joining main tubes together.

(Other than welding, the two main construction methods, both of which are super rare in 2025, are fillet brazing and lugged construction.)
Welding is used in 2025 because it's cheaper to mass produce vs brazing. High quality steel bike frames built during the golden age of bicycling are brazed, not welded. And what holds the lug to the frame tube? Braze alloy! How's that for knowledge? Brazing does not melt the parent material. Therefore, the heat affected zone (HAZ) is smaller than that of a TIG weld. Don't need to spec larger and thicker tubing with a brazed joint.

Read the reviews about frame/fork alignment issue. Why? Excessive metal distortion when melting the parent material.

Direct injection is used in most cars today but the technology is inferior to port injection. Higher pressure 2000 psi requiring secondary pump that can wear out faster. Fuel dilution in the combustion chamber. Deposit forming on the intake valve.

Very strange product, given that it's so heavy. I think I'd prefer a used 10-speed Huffy. I get the argument for low maintenance, but surely paying a bike shop for occasional brake pad replacements and adjustments wouldn't be that expensive.
Check out the reviews. People can't remove the seat tube because of poor weld quality.

Don't hold your breath. Rogue typically sells all of its gear at 2x or higher compared to similar products sourced overseas. Their basic pitch is, "If you really are a patriot, you'll be happy to pay through the nose to prove it!" 😆
Not sure what's funny about this. Rogue is one of the top employers in Ohio. You don't support American workers? You want them to make slave labor wages like in China? Not a good take

"Coulter Ventures, LLC (dBa Rogue Fitness), are currently navigating multiple lawsuits regarding violation of wage and labor laws, and retaliation against employees for opting in to those class actions suits violating labor and wage laws."

Yeah sounds like a great place to work.

25 lbs is heavy for Cr Mo with single speed belt drive. The downtube appears to be oversized to improve stiffness. Unfortunately, this single speed bike isn't geared for off road use.My Tange One Cr Mo butted and fully brazed lugged 23" Centurion Ironman is just over 22 lbs with Shimano 105 equipment and drop bar.
Specs say 30lbs for this. My hard tail mountain bikes weigh less.

This is a thread about a particular bicycle. The fact that it's welded is not relevant to anyone in this thread because (effectively all) modern metal bikes are welded, even high end ones.

Also alignment is a quality control issue. Framebuilders use fixtures to hold the tubes in place during welding, and have a bunch of tricks for dealing with the expansion/contraction of metal during heating and cooling. You can see pictures of those fixtures and other things at the actual shop that makes these frames here: https://theradavist.com/inside-ou...frameworks

If a frame is misaligned, or if the seatpost doesn't move freely, that's a lack of QC, not inherent to welding. If your comments were about QC, I wouldn't even be here. When a bike shop puts together a new bike, they typically use one of these to smooth out the inside of the seat tube before installing the seatpost: https://www.brushresearch.com/brushes.php?c1=2

Judging from most of the pictures on their website, the lifestyle is all about muscle bros with tattoos.

Bike is priced on one of a kind product, not engineering excellence.

Advertising off road capability with a single speed drivetrain is silly.

Multiple stress risers at the bottom bracket due to four closely spaced TIG welds result in wheel-to-frame centering issue.

Mfr claims hand build wheels, but buyer has to re-true wheels at the bike shop. This is a single speed wheel that does not require different left/right spoke tensions to account for the cassette. No excuse for such poor workmanship.

I can pick up a Centurion Ironman on eBay for $500. Much better build quality. A fine example of a high performance steel bike build during the golden age of bicycling. Good balance between road absorbing vibration and stiffness for efficient power transfer. The only limitation of this frame is tire size...capped at 28mm.

It is easier to achieve good quality control with brazing vs TIG welding. These observed defects would not occur with a brazed frame. The use of thicker steel tubing on this bike does not completely eliminate warpage. Today's business environment promotes faster, cheaper, and limited product lifespan. With the exception of the belt drive, there is nothing special that would warrant $500 price tag.

Last post -- I don't think anyone here is interested in this conversation.

But you should stay out of commenting on bike threads, or spend some time in the bike industry, visiting manufacturing facilities, and talking to real engineers about their design choices. There's just so much wrong with so many of your comments, even if some of your general claims about differences between welding and brazing are correct. Please, use your time elsewhere. You're misleading and confusing people.
