Ordered mine. Too good to pass. I know NovaLake and Zen6 mobile is goona be a huge jump, but expect price increase due to TSMC 2nm nodes.

With that much graphics power, why give a 2K screen?
The laptop 5080 is severely underpowered compared to the desktop variant. 2k is probably the best resolution for this card.

What's the catch? This seems like a too good to be true deal? I got the ~2K 5080 Alienware otherwise I would def buy this. Actually I still want one, just too good to miss.
Most would want a better screen, more RAM, larger SSD, and an Ulta 9 Processsor. You can configure this deal have have all of those, but that would add $500+ to the cost. It will also take over a month to arrive once ordered as this is a custom build.

Thanks, I put another order for $2001 with my amex, but it didn't let me cancel my previous order.
It says cancellation requested even though I requested cancellation after 40 minutes of putting the order. Hope, it gets cancelled.
You can return it. Just treat it like canceled and order away

It's been touched on in a previous comment, but I'll come out and be more clear about it.
Laptop GPUs are not a 1:1 equivalency to their desktop brethren. Additionally, even in the mobile GPU space, the performance of identical chipsets can vary greatly based on the configuration of the chassis.
The following information is going to be what I learned a few years ago when I bought my Lenovo Legion laptop with the RTX 30-series chipset.
In a nutshell, it all comes down to cooling. I.e., the ability to remove heat from the system.
The desktop chipsets are faster because they have much more robust cooling available and a larger PCB to handle power delivery and the overall circuitry to facilitate higher speeds.
Once you get into laptop configurations, things are going to be sacrificed. The first sacrifice is cooling. Less cooling = less performance. The chipsets themselves may even have fewer processing bits. It's still going to be called a <whatever> series, but it's going to be crippled.
When I was looking at the variety of Legion laptops, there were the fullsize units and "slim" units. Both had "the same" chipset: RTX 3070Ti. However, in independent benchmarks reviews, the slim chassis performed notably worse because... less cooling available. So I went with the larger chassis knowing that I was willing to have a larger chassis for better performance.

So when looking at laptops, take a note of the chassis configuration. Or more importantly, the cooling of the GPU. If there's only one intake * exhaust port, that chipset is likely not going to be at the top of it's mobile class relative to other chassis that implement intake and exhaust on both the left & right side of the chassis.

If anyone goes the discounted giftcard route, remember hp only takes 5 giftcards per order. Don't be like me and stuck with 6 additional cards I now must sell at loss.

With the Cap one offer you can get this for $1280 with the 1x16 ram, 512ssd, and IPS 2560x1600 screen.
Do you recommend the one stick 16gb, then upgrade to dual 16gb for 32gb or just slap a single 32gb in there with existing 16gb for 48gb?

Its much cheaper to buy another 16GB stick and add it in vs the HP option. You can do either but you might see a performance hit due to mismatched ram sizes especially when you use more than 32GB.

I've had to make an account just to help people. This IS a GREAT deal, do 16gb 1 stick ram stock sell it on ebay for $40 or whatever you can get back for it, buy your own (Example) crucial 64gb 5600mz for around $130 on sale, the one thing nobody realises and this posts doesn't mention. DO NOT use their stock 512GB option, the SSD slot 1 is situated under a heatsink pipe which voids the warranty if removed and you have to repaste the GPU AND CPU. This is the only option to bite the bullet and get at least the 1TB 4X4 OR 1TB 5X4. I know this because i ordered the 5070ti option last month and to be honest it's very good no thermal issues, BUT I wasn't aware of the SSD issue until I got it and also XMP profiles are locked so you can't use XMP RAM nor can you use ram like KINGSTON Impact Fury 6000, not just because it's XMP, but it will run at JEDEC Native 4800 instead of the laptops 5600 let alone the RAMS power of 6000. Also doesn't appear you can use ram over 1.1V this Impact Fury is 1.35V. Just a heads up, so something like Crucial 64GB 5600 CL46 is the option i settled for, until timings get better on DDR5 laptop ram in the future.

DO NOT use their ram it's a rip off but as I said the SSD, pay the extra pennies for a faster slot 1 option! upgrade slot 2 at your own needs it's easy as usual. BUT SLOT 1 IS A F******

Photo to confirm previous comment.

Tagging onto previous comment, top right please view SSD slot 1.

HP manual states 5070 ti, 5080 and 5090 cannot be removed without removing heatsink pipe. GPU's below can be with tweezers etc!

It's a great deal but do not put the 512GB in, pay the extra pennies for a 1T 5x4 or something then upgrade your SSD slot 2 with a beast!
If you get get by with the 512 do it but i ordered the 5070ti model with the 512 and saw this when opened up, they've waived the restocking fee and I Have re ordered the 5080 with a 1TB 5x4 in slot 1

If the 512 isn't an issue go ahead, I would just prefer a slightly larger especially faster boot drive and keep my SSD2 upgrade for all my games and data!
It's just a head up.

Hope this info helps all!
