Bold added for reference. Doesn't seem that it would be very usable other than looking for something specific in a dark room. Certainly not something you'd be able to use to light up a large area outside.

Walmart has these in-store for $2 each all the time, usually with other lights in the automotive department. Different branding but I think they're the same. I've bought a bunch and have them stashed around anywhere I might need light. They're good in a pinch because they're small and cheap, but they don't put out much light.

That's part of the design. You don't want something blasting 10,000 lumens when you're finding some random screw in a machine. The "bright enough to see" light output is perfect.

I have 3 sets/colors of these. They come in handy for small and close up lighting needs. Definitely not area lighting.

30 lumens are fine for a penlight. 🙂

(People forget the days of incandescent bulbs when Maglite was the premier flashlight at only 27 lumens!)

Less powerful than an iPhone flashlight, but with more focused throw and pen form factor, often more versatile and useful.
I was handed down one, liked it enough, bought a 4 pack ~2 years ago. Really useful to have within easy reach. One in the backpack, one in the car, one in a kitchen drawer.
For less than $2/each you get a useful light with meh build quality and two AAA batteries. That's like less than what I pay for 3 grade-a organic pasture raised eggs nowadays.

These are fine for close work (like looking in a drawer for something) but outside of that they are very dim.
