Wanna stop Alexa from EVER saying "By the way" and offering you a suggestion you absolutely DO NOT CARE ABOUT? Here's how:
Say to any of your devices, "Alexa.... stop By The Way". If she says "Okay, I will snooze my suggestions for now", then you can count on a couple of days of silence and will know that the command works. (The command will not necessarily work on ALL devices. If it doesn't work on the one you tried, try another). Next, we get tricky and get her to shut up forever.
Open the Alexa App and do the following:
1: More > Routines > New (the "+" in the upper corner)
2: Enter Routine Name > give it a name (I use "Shut Up"), tap Next
3: When This Happens> Schedule > At Time
4: Repeat=Every Day, At Time=2am (my preference, choose the time you want), tap Next
5: Add Action > Custom > 'stop by the way' (without quotes), tap Next
6: Choose Device: Pick one of your devices, tap Save
Important.... while this will apply to ALL of your devices, the device you pick in step 6, at the time you select in step 4, will respond when the routine runs by saying, "Okay, I will snooze my suggestions for now". My suggestion is to have this run overnight while you're asleep, but have it run ON a device that won't disturb you when it talks. I use my Garage Flex at 2am, since it's unlikely I'll be sleeping out there then.
By having the routine run daily, it should permanently remove the "By The Way" suggestions from your life, since each request gives you 2-3 days of peace. This will work until Amazon catches on and changes their software.

Or could it just be - Apple wants to promote its own ecosystem and services, including Siri. Allowing a direct, full-featured competitor like Alexa to be a prominent app on the CarPlay screen would undermine Siri's role as the primary voice assistant in the car.
And actually I'm still having problems, because now instead of Google Assistant answering on my phone, it's Gemini. And Assistant worked better for telling Spotify to play things, which is 90% of what I ask in the car. The adventure continues.

I actually have the Echo Dot gen 2 installed in my car since 2017 (can't believe that's 8 years ago, wth). About 95% of its use is to play Spotify with voice command while I'm driving. The Echo Dot has started to get flaky, really slow to start-up and sometimes failed to connect to my car wi-fi, which is the reason I'm interested to replace it with this little thing.
