The REDTIGER F17 Elite is consistently advertised with a Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 sensor for its front-facing camera. This sensor has a native resolution of 8.4 megapixels, which is capable of recording true 4K video at a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels.

In contrast, independent reviews and technical analysis indicate that the standard REDTIGER F17 likely utilizes a Sony IMX335 sensor. This sensor has a native resolution of approximately 5.14 megapixels (2592 x 1944 pixels). While the camera may output a 4K video file, this is achieved through a process called interpolation, where the software upscales the lower-resolution image to 4K. This "interpolated 4K" or "upscaled 4K" does not offer the same level of detail and clarity as a native 4K recording. One detailed review went as far as to label the standard F17's 4K claim as "fake," stating its maximum true resolution is 1440p.

eBay has the "open box" for $64.49 minus 5% discount (automatically applies) full warranty. https://ebay.us/m/uGdjmO

OP deal is for F17 vs eBay open is for F7NP. Later is a good but F17 is 3 channels and true 4K, improvised connectivity over 5G and likely future proof.

Curious what the draw is for recording in your cabin? I get it for commercial drivers, ride share drivers, etc, but for the average person/family driving I don't understand why I'd want to record in the cabin. Would love to heard some perspectives from people that want it

honestly, stuff happens in life. first of all the camera can catch things happening that is obviously missed from the front view. I've had some pretty heavy things happen in my life and I have been assaulted by people in my car multiple times in my life so it's sort of for that reason. it's the same reason that I have a camera in my entryway of my house because I have had people assault me in the interior of my house or threatened to. I feel safer having a recording when other people in my car. I'm just a normal white dude who shouldn't have these weird experiences but I've had quite a few and so it just makes me feel much safer to have a copy in case something really goes down. The other idea is that in the case of someone breaking into the car, and maybe not noticing the camera, the camera is supposed to record interior. but the problem is that I think a thief would probably just snag the camera so that's not going to do much good. I really wish that the recordings were stored somewhere else, like it had an external memory card line that would be hard to get to. that'd be genius but they haven't done that yet.
