Would this (with a 3rd party heatsink installed) be sufficient for a PS5? Sony says, "5,500MB/s or faster is recommended," but this is 5,000MB/s. Would that 500MB/s deficit make a noticeable difference?
Same if I use external case for an Xbox series x?
Xbox Series storage
This is the only storage Xbox Series games can be played off of. This storage does anything, but it costs a premium. It's also the kind of storage built into the Xbox Series X|S consoles.
This must be high performance, consistent storage. And it must be officially licensed. There are probably ways to get a special enclosure and flash/hack non-official storage to work. But under normal circumstances, you have to pay for the official Seagate or Western Digital external drives.
Xbox One storage
Older Xbox One games can be played off of this storage. As well as backwards compatibility games. You can also use this to store screenshots and game clips. And while you can't use this type of storage to play Series X|S games, you can use this storage to archive them. That way you can manually copy games to your faster Xbox Series storage when want to play them. Basically, this storage can do anything other than play Xbox Series X|S games.
This can be almost any drive connected via USB. 3.5" and 2.5" spinning platters work, as do 2.5" SSDs and NVMe drives. Faster drives do impact things like loading times, so there is value in getting faster storage. But, you can store a lot more on 3.5" drives, and that works great for archiving game data and videos.
