Seems to be a decent 4th of July sale. I'm not positive I'll pull the trigger myself, but it does check most of the boxes for what I need:
  • 17" WQXGA (2560x1600) Anti-Glare IPS Display
  • Intel® 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-1334U processors
  • 16GB LPDDR4X RAM
  • 512GB NVMe SSD
  • 2.98 lbs

FYI it also comes with a 27 Inch Full HD IPS Smart Monitor with webOS and Built-in Speakers (https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg...rt-monitor). Sale price for that by itself is $170.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank SlickCrayon1512

you are paying that money for a 60hz, old and slow 1334u, a garbage touch pad and relatively bad battery life (imagine have a lunar lake in that chasis). This specification only worth $300 range if you don't want to pay for the super light factor.

For $800 you should aim at OLED 120hz, current gen Lunar Lake (I don't recommend them though) or AMD and 32GB memory. Do better. There are constant sales.

Any recommendations with better specs that have a screen size bigger than 14" and are under 3 lb?

I don't think it ever makes sense to pay $800+ for a laptop that has a cpu multiple generations old regardless of the form factor. With this laptop you're buying a CPU that is already over three years old.
