Yeah, but the payment processor they're using requires your SSN and bank account. It's not a straight gift card.

I can confirm the credit is a discount code that doesn't stack with sale prices, if you try use the discount code on a sale then the price will revert to full price, the sale prices are usually better than $150. The discount code is worthless unless you absolutely cannot wait for a sale. Otherwise the $100 is better as you can still get the sale price and $100.

from what I've heard, the $150 is just a discount code and is not stackable so get the $100 and you will get a better upgrade deal

No, it's not income. It's a refund for a faulty product.
Thanks so much. That makes sense.

From what I read, the mandatory "nerfing" battery software update will happen at like the 400 charge cycle. I am currently at 132 cycles so I am way off before I need the mandatory battery software update. I am thrifty with my battery usage. I also changed my Pixel 6a to a Samsung Galaxy A54 as daily driver so I rarely use the 6a anymore. I got my Pixel 6a from Google store deal and I think I traded in my old Pixel 3a or an old iPhone. I am not sure about doing the Payoneer $100 deal. I never heard of them. The battery replacement isn't really needed for me right now with my low cycle count. I wish Google would just give $150 store credit so I can buy some earbuds or other stuff. The $150 upgrade code is ok but I don't have any interest in upgrading my phone anytime soon.

I think a caveat is if you have a unique offer by means of a code, because most often you can only use 1 code during checkout. I read it as if they have a sale onsite, this $150 credit could apply to that sale item.
However it is read, experience from the Pixel 4a thread's version of this same offer says that won't work... applying the battery credit code reverted a sale price phone to regular price before credit applied. YMMV of course, if you get the credit and are able to use it on an on-sale device then please let us know as that would be a better deal than the cash option.

PS - anyone know if installing Lineage on the 6a (either before or after the battery-kill update) will overcome the battery gimping?
what is gimping?

I think Slikku is asking about whether Lineage OS would bypass that 400 cycles limit.

Where are you able to see the charging cycle count on the 6a? I looked for it but couldn't find it.

Actually wanting to know if the gimping/nerfing done to the device after 400 cycles is a firmware thing or an OS thing, i.e. does Lineage remove nerfing and stock Android puts in place..

That sounds like a website error if that happened, or maybe the offer terms were different. I did go for the $150, and the code came through the same day. Hoping for a discount on the 9a for the holiday and/or Prime day, all while stacking the $80 trade in credit with the $150 credit. If it doesn't work, I'm still looking at $230 off which I'm fine with.

Damn, I have 3 6a and none eligible. How do they determine who's eligible?
Is it for people who bought straight from Google or bought unlocked? Mine didn't work either. I bought locked from T-Mobile and they unlocked 6 months later. Darn.

Thanks for bringing this up! To avoid the Payoneer annual maintenance fees, remember to cancel your Payoneer account as soon as you receive the compensation amount.
TOS when using the google link is different than signing up publicly. When using the google link no inactivity fees are listed. Otherwise the annual inactivity fee is $29/year.

Payoneer's ToS says they'll charge you $29.95 if you set up an account and don't transfer at least $20000 within 12 months. The associated subreddit is full of horror stories.
Inactivity fees don't apply when using the google link. Regular sign ups get the $29/year inactivity fee.

I purchased my PIxel 6a directly from Google and not eligible. I wonder if it's only for recent purchases still under warranty? My PIxel 6a was purchased in 2022

If you qualify and are in certain regions, you can get the battery replaced. When I went through the support form yesterday, going through the replacement option would permit you to change your mind and get the credit or cash. However, if you select credit or cash, you will no longer have the option for replacement. There is a walk-in appointment for my location (so that I don't have to mail it in), but I cannot call for an appointment until after 7/21.

"Please just give us your social security number, set up a security q&a, and provide your bank account number". If this a legitamate offer, it is clearly designed to scare any sane person from redeeming it. The stakes are too high, and they damn well know it. So this is how they limit their cash-payout liability. As collateral damage, the people who give up all of this highly sensitive information and get their $100 cash will now be acclimated to giving that same information to the next online-money-making opportunity. Shame on you Google. This is beyond the pale. I hope you are held to task for treating your customers like they are purely profit and loss, and grooming them to lose their life-savings to scammers.
Absolutely this. Plus, the link to set up the Payoneer account looks weird to me. Come on Google, there must be a better company/way that you can fulfill this.
