Not disagreeing about it probably being inefficient but I have to imagine the societal/economial impact for a small charger is 0.

If you want to waste electricity... sure. These things literally are doing great if 50% of the electricity put in charges the battery. Bad for your wallet, bad for society, etc.

These are typically 80-90% efficient. I like them because they do not provide wear on the sub-c port.

Highly unlikely. Low power induction charging is meant for convenience, not efficiency.
