yup I totally agree...24GB should be the minimum anyone that wants their macbook to be relevant 5 years from now. With the way macs memory switching work is better to have excess and not the minimum. a few years from now programs will use a bit more memory and so will the operating(upgraded) system. PPL don't just run out and replace their laptops often so I think 24gb should be the minimum.

Same thing on Nvidia and Amd gpus. Amd pretty consistently uses about 10-15 percent more vram due to worse compression and Rebar being used in every game.

How much RAM should I get for picture editing in Light room, DXO or Topaz? My 2017 MacBook Air with 8GB won't even install the programs and I can't update the OS to Sequoia.
