If youre not in a hurry, the Battery Daddy is better because it has handles and is made from durable material. The batteries are so heavy they would tear OP thing eventually. Plus Battery Daddy holds every battery size. The OP one doesnt look like it holds bigger batteries?
Battery Daddy is $20 right now but often goes on sale for $10:
Compact battery organizer stores 180 batteries, clear lid, built-in tester for right battery on hand. Others are loving it! https://a.co/d/f9qdzVN

what do people store in C/D slots or do they leave them empty? i've wanted one for awhile but ~20% of the unused space is mildly infuriating lolthis solution (AA/AAA) with hard plastic slots would be the dream - i like storacell but these days you can 3d print them but only comes in "magazines" sizes (4/8/16)
Eneloops used to offer C/D converter shells in some kits. I have several of those that take up the C/D slots and keep everything in place on the off chance they are needed for something.
So please forgive the possibly silly question, but would this tester work on rechargeable batteries as well, or just single use batteries? Does it matter? Thanks!

Should work just fine.
We have the BatteryDaddy, I prefer that just because I love the way my wife says "BatteryDaaaddy".
I'm in the medical field and we use a cement mixer on a regular basis for kyphoplastys that has 8 AA Energizers. The batteries are easily removable and only have 30 seconds of use so I filled my case up for free. Amazon has C and D convertor cases that you pop AA batteries into, they work great for my lights that take those.
Who the hell buys all those batteries to just have around & forget about until they are totally dead.
This is a waste of money. I'd rather go to the store to buy fresh batteries then to rely on open batteries that might be dead by the time I need them.
And besides, who has that many items that need batteries these days
You obviously have never been a parent.
batteries have long shelf lives. those dates marked on each generally are 10 years from the date of purchase.
