Spend the extra $8 to get the heavy duty blue handle ones if you're going to use them for anything other than copper. Even for just copper I'd still get the blue handle. This is coming from someone who's owned 8 pairs or Klein side cutters and uses them everyday.

Are you saying to get the 8" over the 9" one?

Depending on the type of wire, there's much better strippers for purely stripping. These are more universal/good enough for DIY stuff but not for my work (car audio) I carry 3 types of strippers with me. I can't be bothered with using "good enough" when stripping a hundred wires per day.

I do have these as well, I use these for cutting excess wire that's 8awg and smaller, and trimming zip ties where my flush trim cutters can't reach. They still have their place in my bag

Would you recommend these for DIY? Thanks!

For solid core/romex, I like that style. I have the same style (different brand) and they work, but they aren't very good for stranded wire. I mean they work but there's quirks

Hate to hear that. I already have a Klein for solid but needed one for stranded wire. Thanks for the reply.

Those work fine for stranded wire, says this retired electrician who used them lots for #18 AWG wire a lot at work. Also used for other sized wire, but 18 was most common for our scope of work.
