Thanks. Needed a physical copy to play against my son. Even had a GC lying around to use on it!
We have it digital and only one person can play at a time. If I get a physical copy, I can play him. Had to do the same thing with Mario Kart after the virtual card implementation (plus I just like physical).
But 1 physical copy won't let 2 switches play versus each other, correct? I still need some combination of 2 copies of the game?

Yep. We have digital already, and physical should show up by Tuesday. You could buy two copies of physical as well and be all set.
You can play with 2 people with one digital copy. Have your son play using his own login on the console that has the virtual cartridge. Then on a separate console, play using your own login (the login that owns the game). Just make sure you enable Online License in user settings. This is the main advantage of digital over physical copy... you can share the game.
You cannot both play at the same time with this method though.
