Better than XM4, worse that XM5. More bass focused.

Better than xm4? In audio quality or noise cancellation or both? Was that ebay deal for new or refurbished?

It has a design similar to XM3/4 but the audio processing chip of the XM5. Think of these like the iPhone SE of the Sony XM lineup.

Better audio quality than 4 but tbh slightly worse ANC from the XM3/4. Way better cushion than the XM3/4 though.

These have a know problem where the left hinge breaks. Mine did yesterday after 6 months of use.
eBay is full of listings that offer a 3D print hinges but the repair is not easy. This video shows the repair:
