Instabuy! Finally the deal on the TV I've been drooling over. I've lusted after this since I first saw it in Best Buy! Been holding out hoping to see a sale like this. Price even better than I was hoping for. Done and done! TY OP - repped! I also added the My Best Buy plus membership for $60 just so I could return it within 60 days if a better deal comes along (I doubt it will - but at $2k, why not spend another $60 just to make sure). Plus the 2 year interest free financing on BB card. My 98" Micro LED Dream is becoming a reality!

Here's a good review of this amazing TV.

Unfortunately rtings updates their rating methodology regularly, making comparisons of older TVs to modern ones worthless (unless they've retested the old TV with the newer methodology). Just seeing a higher score on an older TV doesn't mean that it's better.

Thoughts on getting BB Geeksquad protection for this? Its another $450 for 5 years but I would have peace of mind knowing that my TV is basically guaranteed to work for atleast 5 years. I imagine TCL TVs are not as durable as Sony or LG...

If $450'is gonna give you the piece of mind for the 5 years I'd say yes! Geeksquad is great I've heard better things about geeksquad then any other tv insurance

How does this compare to the QM6 PRO? $1800 at costco. https://www.costco.com/tcl-98%22-...62946.html

It's a good value for sure, but not the best quality display. My 6 year old Sony panel still beats it on quality, but not by much. I think the biggest drawback to this panel on just display quality wise is that it's glossy as hell.

People are removing the matte finish from their high end TVs just to get them glossy. Matte is good if you have a bright room with lots of windows, but it comes at the cost of lowering PQ.

I wouldn't mount this. It is 120 lbs. I feel like this weight can break the stud.
120 lbs is a fraction of what studs can hold. The proper mounting equipment and screws is what matters.

How would 120lbs break the studs when 100lbs TVs are perfectly fine and well the studs have the whole weight of the house and roof distributed amongst them? TV stands capable of holding 120 lbs are also not very common.

QM7K is the winner.
Better brightness control
Almost 6× more dimming zones (sharper black/halo control)
Dolby Vision Gaming & IMAX Enhanced certifications

Thanks! Just making sure, are you comparing to the QM6K or QM6K PRO? Because I see the pro does have IMAX enhanced certificate, as one example.

Ah, I think I got that one mixed up with the reggie QM6K. (All these TCL's are running together in my head now, as I am debating between the QM7K and QM8K right now.) Looks like the pro does have IMAX Enhanced. The rest of it should be accurate though. The QM7K will have better PQ overall, higher brightness ceiling, better contrast, less blooming, and far more dimming zones.

Use the right lagbolts and let the professionals install it. They are fully insured and bonded. If they break anything, including your studs, they have insurance that covers their accident, for this reason, and for convenience, I will let Best Buy install it for free. Just have to buy the mount.

I might be the only person in the world who's had a 98 QM6K (not specifically the "Pro" model that's on sale at Costco, the differences are not noticeable) and 98 QM7K mounted in the same place. I originally ordered last year's QM7 for our new house to be in the living room. despite it's high brightness, it wasn't enough to overcome the bright light from our living room windows, leaving the TV near unusable during daytime viewing. I swapped it out for the QM6K at launch, due to the matte screen. I was extremely happy with it, but when the QM7K launched at only a $200 premium price Vs the QM6K, I thought I would give it a go. the actual TCL product page for the QM7K says it is "semi matte", and after having in my living room for two weeks, I can confirm "semi", in this case, means "not at all". The reflections were just as bad as the original QM7 from 2024, and so I went back to the QM6K for my fourth and final TV for my living room setup. the numbers don't lie, the brightness of the QM7K is off the charts, I can't even imagine the eye strain from a QM8K at night- but the QM6K is also completely blinding late at night. overall, given the negligible price difference between the 6K and 7K, I would go with this 7K UNLESS you're putting it in a very bright room and intend on watching it during the day. then I would go with the QM6K (or 6K Pro model you linked) for it's real matte display. I have photo comparisons on the best buy product page for the 98 QM6K

Some of those drywall anchors are pretty solid. 4 of them should be fine for 120# as long as you aren't moving or hanging on it
