You're also paying for the better Z1 Extreme vs the slower Z2 Go.

Recently sold my steam deck and picked up a legion go. I absolutely love this thing. The fact that I can play games from epic, steam, and game pass without tweaking anything was the reason why I wanted it. I've been able to put my PS3 and switch emulators on here without issue as well. 1000% worth the upgrade based on my use case for it.

The downside: the battery does not last long at all so make sure you keep a charger with you.

This reminds me, I need to marketplace or offer up my Legion go, got it thinking I would be using it a few times a month, but in reality its been sitting in its carry case collecting dust. These things are great for what they are, portable powerhouses in a more gaming friendly form factor, but the integration on the windows ones at least isnt all there yet, the steam one should be more gaming only friendly. Also I know there are Steam OS builds that can be installed over the windows one and they seem to work pretty well.
Shoot me a link when you do.

This one works great with windows, steamos and bazzite. Drivers are PITA and not updated regularly, but you can sideload them. I returned mine since the only way to use GeforceNow 4k @ 120fps is on windows - steamos supports only 4k@60fps and it does not work currently on bazzite. In windows, it was randomly connecting to my TV (like once in 20 tries), while the same cable works flawlessly with my laptop each time - I'm pretty sure it's some drivers issue there. Can highly recommend this device for this price.

ROG Ally X7 or this?
The Ally X is probably more comfortable and a better user experience from a software standpoint.

I owned both. I ultimately stuck with this Legion Go because of the screen. It's amazing.

Z2 Go is horribly bad. It's 4 x Zen3 + 680m CU GPU for Z2 Go vs 8x Zen 4 780m 12CU GPU Z1 Extreme/Z2.
You are at 40% of the CPU and 80% of the GPU. It's a really bad chip.
didn't realize that.
I was mislead b/c OP list them as having the same CPU

Out of all the handhelds at Best Buy I always go back to this one and check it out. I personally like it but still not enough to drop $550, also the battery life is insanely bad. I hope prices come down hard on these.

Going to wait and see how the Xbox implemented one is. It would be great if one of these manufactures took the initiative and created a custom OS that takes advantage of the hardware fully to optimize the battery life.

This ($550), you'll be able to remove the controllers if something happens and not having to send your whole unit in for repair. Also, one of the controllers can be used as a mouse which works amazing for first-person insurers

Please fix the description for the Legion Go S. It is not the Z1 extreme version. It's the slower Z2 Go version.

EDIT: Why are people giving thumbs down when the OP put in the WRONG description for the Legion Go S? Or these people uninformed and think the Z2 Go processor isn't slower than the Z1 Extreme? It is and you can find side by side comparisons showing this.
thumb down is like candyman. speaking of it will only bring more to you lol

Any thoughts on this price? I ordered one, but may return it. I saw the Target deal for $420 (or sub-$400 with coupons). I think that this Best Buy deal is competitive given that it has 1TB SSD and Best Buy coverage if you have a Total membership. (Yes. I know that I could replace a 512 drive myself. However that would be around $80 for a quality drive).

Does anyone think that the 1TB model would go lower. This seems like a "lowest price" to me for now.

Edit: $550 is the lowest price. It has hit that several times going back to August of 2024. Maybe it will get lower for Black Friday…

I'm conflicted. I do love the form factor I love the idea of having that little Windows tablet that could almost be a replacement for a surface go type of thing. I wish there was maybe like a folio keyboard from a third party or some kind of dock that was purpose made to turn it into a little productivity machine when necessary
