If your poor & on gov cheese, then you qualify for reduced annual prime membership. Same thing if your a student & have an edu email. Alternatively, cancel your $150/yr membership & have your kid sign up & authorize you as a member user for $60/yr.
Pro tip: sign up for the monthly membership during amazon prime day or during christmas when you can get the fast ships with prime member price, then cancel after month, so you only pay the month fee, instead of the $150 annual fee.
easiest $250 bonus I ever got. it automatically goes into you amazon GC account

Do we need to be the primary prime account owner to qualify? I share an account that's not under my name and the account owner doesn't have a prime card.
I've done this before. Your account isn't the one with the benefits but is getting them tangentially. So like if you wanted the 5% back from Amazon purchases, you wouldn't get it if you signed up from your account. Only the account holder can get that benefit if they sign up. But nothing says the card has to be in their name.
if you sign up through the account holders account who HAS the promotion and 5% cash back blah blah, you need to enter your info into the actual card sign up page, and then you are able to activate the card on the account holders account and then enter the card onto your account to use.
I think it's required that the account holder has the card active too? Maybe? Idk I did this like 5 years ago.
Both the Mrs and I already have Prime cards from this deal a few years back. My 18 year old kid (works part time) has their own Prime account. I wonder how tough it would be for a kid (has good but limited credit) to get approved for this card - albeit at a low credit line. Not even sure if that is even possible just curious if anyone has experience with this situation?

See if you're pre-qualified without affecting your credit score. Just below the "Apply Now" button, you'll find a button that says "Check now." It should give you an idea.

If not, is there any prime free trial or similar that'd work for spouse opening an account just for credit card?
Yes! We did this last time they had this deal.
