As someone that has had a PS5 Pro with disc drive since release, here are my recommendations as to why you should get one at this price. If most of these things do NOT apply to you, stick with a base model PS5.
- You primarily play single player games that have PS5 Pro Support. Multiplayer/Online games don't benefit nearly as much from this.
- Most of the games you already own are digital. Having to buy the disc drive is an added cost.
- You already have a PS5 you can resell to make up the cost of this.
- You primarily PC game at 4K and badly need to upgrade your GPU. GPU costs are out of control and if you game at 4K, you'll spend a lot more than this to upgrade.

Got the last EBay deal for $650, almost $700 with tax + an $80 disk drive. Personally wouldn't mind a used one to save almost $200. Use those savings to get the disk drive and this is a great deal.
This is a niche product for those who actually have a game that benefits from the better GPU. Final fantasy 7 rebirth was my reason to buy it. Another factor was improved PSVR quality in Gran Turismo 7. PSSR will be getting replaced in 2026 as well since some games REALLY don't work with it that well. Before you buy please look into the game on digital foundry or some other source to see if your game actually benefits from this console. If not, a used PS5 will cost you $300 and comes with a disk drive.
Would not buy anything this expensive from Amazon Warehouse Deals anymore. Good chance you get a non-pro model in a pro box, a broken system, or something else. Then when you return it they delay your refund because it's a "high value item" or whatever until you contact support. They also ding your account. It has happened to me several times with DJI products.
As long as Amazon doesn't screw you with a bad unit or something, this is a helluva deal really. When I bought my Pro plus disk drive, I was looking at nearly $900 whereas one could get this deal and a disk drive for about $600. Really a nice deal for someone that hasn't jumped in on the generation yet or has interest in a Pro.
Sigh, I bought one. I guess I can try to sell my slim wihtout a disk drive for $280 ish?
What is your firmware version? If you have a low f/w, you can get more out of it than you would otherwise. If you have a f/w that is vulnerable and you have interest, you might consider keeping it. That whole scene is making advancements by the week it seems.

Its 23.02-08.20.02
I may have used this PS5 for an hour or two. It sits in my home theater.
I typically use my fat PS5, but I think that firmware is fairly recent.
I snagged a used Pro from Amazon a couple months ago for $575. No issues so far although it does get much louder than my launch PS5 when playing intense games. Would buy used again.

Don't forget dandruff and dust, too. Buying used gaming equipment always comes with little surprises.
Your not joking. Bought an Xbox series x off eBay and this thing was gross as fuk. Had this thick sticky film all over it and the dude just shipped it in the original box. Was too lazy to even throw on the original console cover. The box came open during shipping as well because he put 3 pieces of tape on the top of the box. Thankfully he gave me my money back and a full refund. I sent it back to the seller in the same shipping condition but was nice and added extra tape all over.
