Normally secondhand sites have these codes at a much cheaper rate, but at the time of writing, the top two sites either have them out of stock or at just a couple of dollars cheaper, depending on where you look.
Back when conversions for existing GPU subs were 2:1, I would have been all over this since it would have resulted in a net $4.92/mo cost (no sales tax where I live). However, since this will now only convert to 114 days of GPU, it results in a $15.52/mo net cost. The days of <$5/mo GPU for existing members are truly dead.
I'm paid up until October of 2027, but I extend to 36 months when a good sale comes up. The last one I found that was worth buying was 3-month GPU codes from Eneba/CDKeys for $26-28 (~$9/mo net cost).

So better to not have an active ultimate sub correct?
Correct. Let your Ultimate run out and turn off recurring billing to ensure it will run out, then just stack up to 36 months of Core and convert it again. You'll lose about 2 months of Ultimate if you stack a Core code onto an Ultimate subscription.
This Newegg deal happens roughly once a month, though, so don't worry if you miss out on it this time.
Should I buy 3 of these for 36 months @ $176.97?
That will be converted to 18 months of GPU correct? Is that the best way to do the math?
Thank you!

Secondhand sites usually have these codes beaten by a good $10-20 for 12-month denoms, but those codes carry a bit of risk with them and it's generally wise to redeem them as soon as you get them instead of holding onto them for later.
The grey market is the only way I know of nowadays to purchase GPU for <$10/mo (if someone knows of another, please correct me). I've purchased dozens of codes from both Eneba and CDKeys over the years, and the only time I've had an issue was when I did some math wrong and wasn't able to redeem a code for 3+ months. Ended up getting a refund anyway.
Always worth noting: Microsoft Rewards is a good way to get store credit or GPU by using MS products and doing a few minutes of daily tasks.
If I have game pass it converts to less than 6 months?
