I bought 3 of these. 1 had a broken hose bracket, another was missing accessories and stuff to install it, another one failed 4 days before the 90 day return period. Returned all 3 of them. Like the other poster said, it's Russian roulette.

My unit shows: On full cooling load, 1200-1300 watts. On fan only, about 150-200watts. The game changer is duo hose. Most affordable non-inverter units are single-hose, that create negative pressure that draws air from any leak spot from outside. Dual hose design has the most efficiency gain. If your area is very hot, the unit is running non-stop to keep up the cooling demand, then inverter does not save much. But if your area is mostly 80-85F outside, then the inverter is mostly running on low speed (also quieter), then a non-inverter (constant speed compressor) is less efficient.

I bought it over 3 months ago for $249. I know it's like Russian roulette when you get the box. in my case it the AC looks brand new never been used+with all the accessories. it's been running in the room above the garage since last month non-stop. you can buy the extended warranty 3 or 5 years for $35 I think.

I posted the $199 refurb link yesterday. Also it clearly says you have 30 days to buy a warranty so they must be confused.
You are correct on the 30 days. but you must go into the store to purchase the warranty and I don't know if the cost is more. On electronics I have seen, the in-store warranty eitehr costs most and/or is a shorter duration.

Bought 1. It runs good, but it was NOT refurbished. It was used...and quite dirty...little broken piece of plastic. Thrown in a box almost aggressively. I have no idea if the moisture was flushed or not, but it kinda smelled like pee the first 15 minutes it ran...🤮

Thanks, totally worth it. But this one doesn't specifically say for restored units. I think the 200 to 399 one does. Also I called Walmart and Allstate to see if I can add this and the only way to do so is to return the unit and repurchase it. Also same thing to get the price match, Even though I bought it only two weeks ago. Not a possibility for me to go through that process at this point. Thank you though!
That is incorrect. You can buy it now. Then go through the walmart allstate portal to the warranty site. The warranty will show up and say "receipt needed." Upload the receipt. They will validate and the warranty will be activated. I did this for several items after purchasing. The refurb wording doesn't seem to matter. I've bought the one without the refurb wording and one with the refurb wording, both for a refurbed item, and both registered/activated. If you look at the prices, the cost is identical for the term/price range whether refurb, appliance, etc.

Thanks, I might give it a go. This is contrary to Walmart's stated policy ("Protection plans for online orders must be purchased during checkout. If you would like a protection plan after you checkout, you can buy a protection plan in store within 30 days of your online order with your receipt.") and what Allstate told me via phone call, but if it works, it works. Sounds like a good idea on this problematic unit.

For what it's worth, Allstate was very good on a recent phone claim I had. I got a check back for over $500 for a refurb phone I bought from a 3p vendor on Walmart for a local repair shop fix.

This is also one of the reasons I recently purchased a Segway scooter from Walmart vs Amazon - longer warranty for less money and through Allstate.

Fyi that Allstate and Asurion warranties are trasferrable for free so makes it easier to resell items too.

My 2 units came today. Boxes were not trashed, all accessories are included and new/sealed. Both look new and are spotless inside. Both seem to be working well. Time will tell but as of now I would recommend. There is no mention of a warranty in the manual.

I just received mine yesterday and it looks pretty much new. Hooked it up and that sucker blows nice and cold. This thing is a beast. The exhaust hose is huge too and so is the unit. Looks like it cool my 20ft vaulted ceiling living room with no issues.

Yes ideally you want to add that warranty to your cart with the item. However I have purchased separately (within 30d) and I could register the item on the allstate website. You just have to upload the walmart receipt, then someone (or perhaps AI) validates it on their end and the warranty become active. But I would absolutely not get this unit without one. As far as I can tell aside from the 90d return window there is no warranty. I bought 2. One died within 40d or so. The other is still going. Walmart let me return the bad unit and refunded me for the allstate warranty as well since it was still within the return window.

And FWIW, I didn't need to keep the box. I just hauled it into my local walmart on a grocery cart and they accepted the return. I'm tempted to roll the dice again (especially given unit + 3y warranty is $222.) but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Well I just had Walmart cust service give me the $50 price adjustment and purchased the 4yr Prot plan on the website... just waiting on the email to upload my receipt AND as an FYI this unit works Great was like new in the box and after installing a drain line to outside it seems even better. ( filled a 5 gallon bucket 3 times in a week or so drain line is better)

On the first one I bought, I had an EC54 error code. Still within the return window, I reached out to Midea and it was horrendous customer service. They offer no warranty at all for refurbs. So yes, the only warranty past the return window has to come from a 3p extended warranty. Second unit looked almost new and works fine.

BTW, do you know if the warranty is linked to the specific unit/serial number? The reason I ask is because I purchased the unit 3 weeks ago for $250. Walmart isn't price matching and recommended I return/reorder. But I can't return the existing unit since the unit is in a rental, and I have a good functioning unit. So my plan would be to order an additional one ($200) with the warranty, and return that one using the 3 week old one receipt ($250). That gets me back the price difference, keeps the unit I know works, and also the warranty is a lot cheaper since I can get the warranty from $100-$199 which costs less than the next bracket.

Thanks again for the post-purchase warranty tips!

Did you do this via chat, phone, or in-store? I called and asked them and they would not match the price even though I just bought it 2 weeks prior.

Edit: I called them and only managed to get a $25 promo code. They would not do the $50 price adjustment. This really cost me $41 more then ($25 more in unit, $5 more tax, $11 more for the extended 4 year Allstate warranty since I was now at the $200+ threshold), but no Walmart nearby me and a pain to return, so worth it.

It sounds like the protection plan needs to be purchased in-store within 30 days of purchase, if it wasn't purchased during the original checkout. Would hate for you to have a contract that covers nothing. -

No problem. It does not require the serial number to register, just a copy of the receipt which does not have the serial number. If you ever submit a claim though, they will at that point ask for a serial number and then associate the two together. So in theory you could use it for either of your two units, assuming only one ever needs serviced (but hopefully neither.)

It does not need to be in store. You can buy it online, then go through the walmart portal to the allstate site, you will see the warranty with a status saying "needs receipt" or something along those lines. Click it, and upload a digital copy of your receipt. Either an allstate employee or some AI bot will validate it within a day or so, and it will become active.

Interesting. Didn't realize their was a 4y for the $199 cap range. I found this one, which seems doesn't seem to include any wording that would exclude this unit - https://www.walmart.com/ip/4-Year...1121872858
