I recently replaced one of my fire tablets that I run Home Assistant dashboard with a TBSPG100110027. The specs are slightly different than this one, but it runs a HA dashboard way better than a fire tablet.

There's an XDA thread on rooting this tablet, if that's of interest to folks.

I had the first gen of the Onn 10' Pro it had minimal bloat, it was good for a streaming apps like ReVanced YT + music apk, PurpleTV for twitch, and manga reader. Disable Chrome, install Firefox with Ublock Origin extension .

Tip: Turn off window and transition animations in developer options (tap build to unlock developer options) to make it feel less sluggish.

I bought the refurbished 128GB version from the last deal for $59, but I was stuck at the initial setup screen. Many have experienced the same problem. You can check out the previous thread. Many tried to find a flashable rom to fix it with no luck. I contacted Onn, but they don't provide support for tablets. That is something you may consider if you want to buy this tablet.https://slickdeals.net/f/17902206-refurbished-128gb-onn-11-wifi-tablet-pro-w-4gb-ram-android-13-grey-2023-59-free-shipping?src=SDSearchv3&attrsrc=Thread%3AExpired%3ATrue%7CSearch%3AType%3Anormal%7CSearch%3ASort%3Arelevance%7CSearch%3AHideExpired%3Afalse
That's the 2023 11" pro. In the XDA thread in the wiki they call out that the 2023 11" pro doesn't have a flash solution (I think there's another thread in the onn. for the 11" pro now though). The model listed in this thread, the 2023 10.4" pro, is noted by multiple people in the xda thread to have successfully rooted, at least by my reading.

I see. This is good to know. I didn't know they were different.

This has a build in GPS support, Amazon tablets do not.

So this can be sideloaded etc?
You can install apps from google play store, and apks from outside google play store. If you install other app stores via apk, you can then install from those stores too. Apps that need root still need this tab rooted separately, not sure if that is viable.

I got the fire tablet 10 for prime day, but this is making me second guess my decision. Probably should have just got this. Specs look exactly the same, but this is actually running android without having to "hack" anything.

Edit: Ordered this. I'll just return the fire tablet. It didn't even get delivered yet. Thanks OP.
I also bought a Fire Tablet 10 early this morning that I too will be returning, because I just ordered the onn tablet.

This tablet is also on sale. More RAM, memory, and a faster processor.. Double the price of this one, but still pretty cheap at $100.

Not a lot, honestly. Especially since wifi Tablets aren't as locked down as phones. The main purpose of rooting is to remove as much fat as possible (or as practical) to get more performance out of the device.Especially if you're setting it up as utility tablet for say a home automation system or security cameras you might want to remove anything that will interrupt that.
I am exactly looking for the home automation and security cameras, FireOS or Fire Tablets doesn't have apps like tapo while I need both Ring and Tapo for my purpose. Does this one helps in it? no gaming or any other stuff.

Not a bad price for a something like a dedicated comic reader. Specs are awful for anything more than that.

The storage specs are real close to that $70 32gb Amerzon HD10 and I bet this has a newer os..

Honestly not only does it have a new or OS but just in general much more friendly to customization to not have to go through Amazon. I don't even make fire tablets use allow live wallpapers or third party launchers. Even just getting the Play store on there or a decent file manager it's more headache than I would like.

Well then there is the 20% trade in to get that fire tab making it a really close call, but who know if Vega is coming to a tablet near you.

TL;DR: This is probably within the ballpark of your use case.

Longer explanation:
I can't speak specifically to your use case, but if you read back in thread a few people have mentioned specifically using this for viewing security camera feeds (One of my coworker told me they use the older 32MB model to monitor their Wyze camera) . Most of the opinions are generally that it does the job; it's not great, but for the money it's fine.

If it were me in your shoes, and basically people have said the use it for camera or home automation, I'd just buy it, run it stock and see how it runs the apps I want to run. If I thought it ran pretty good, I'd keep it because $50 for a tablet in the grand scheme of camera or home automation setups is imo dirt cheap. I may buy a second one if I need it in multiple rooms.

If I were also going to root/flash it per the xda thread, I'd want to do that within the, as far as I can tell, 30 day walmart electronics return policy [walmart.com], in case the tablet bricks. It's probably not going to brick, but you never know. The only reason to root/flash it is because you want to cut more bloat from the tablet; I couldn't tell you how much performance that will net you. You might find though that it runs fine enough as stock for the effort/money though.

Really? Hmm. This is getting confusing now - not sure what to do here then. That's the one I ordered. I may just have to keep that one now and cancel the ONN.
Or go with the ONN Pro 11 for $100. Better deal over the Fire IMO
